NUFC Transfer Rumours

No, his only quality is that he can play in different positions.

I'd be very surprised if he ended up at Chelsea; for 50m they could get Palestra, for 60 Nico Paz, and they are interested in Cambiaso...

Maybe it has come to a point where our recruitment team are putting out fake rumours about who we want to sign in order for Chelsea/Liverpool to get baited into signing certain players, and it's working.

I doubt our recruiting team is big or smart enough to do that....the transfer market equivalent of s***h*****y.

Given recent events its like they are playing poker, but instead of keeping their cards close to the chest they are holding them face side out

Is there anything significant about waiting for 1 July before significant progress ? Accounting etc

The final cycle of PSR runs to that date, but we should be well within bounds.

Delap linked again today.

I'm probably in a (massive) minority here, but i'd like us to sign him.

Would take a punt if we can pay what they did. if they are trying to rinse us I'd pass though. We'd also need to move someone on to facilitate this

Spent the majority of last season trying to rationalise our decline and stop myself from wetting the bed. If we sign Delap (don't think we will), I'm Eddie Out 100%.

There’s an excellent player in Delap. Just hasn’t worked out for him at the shitshow that is Chelsea.

Happily have him here.

Would you swap him for Big Willie?

He'd work well with a Delap battering ram. Of course, as would a "partnership" with Wissa, that's a change in style

The lad seemed to lose himself at Chelsea... Which to be fair bigger strikers then him have failed there.

Just don't know which one is true,

Did he over perform at a struggling Ipswich or did he under perform at Chelsea?

Possibly a risk for us, with limited options up top

I would take Delap. With the right coaching he’d become a very good target man, with some ability to play off the shoulder. See him as a Chris Wood type but with more pace and ability long term

Id probably pass on Delap.

I'm assuming Chelsea want a profit and he will be on a decent wage too. Also, he's obviously a slow learner as he choose the team which he was likely to fail at so his hunger to be the best he can is in question.

The only striker I'd take from Chelsea is Jackson, and even then only if it's at a decent fee/wages

I would also take Jackson. Think he’s properly underrated. If his shooting improved he’d be absolutely class

Totally agree.

Delap is a good player. Got injured as soon as he arrived at Chelsea and then never got a run of games.

He only signed for them because he had a relationship with Maresca from Man City youth.

He would have saved us quite a bit of a drama had he signed for us early in the window last summer..

Delap's value should only have decreased based on his performances. He was worse for Chelsea than every single one of our so called transfer horrors. Only reason he doesn't get talked about in the same level as Elanga, Wissa and Woltemade is because his fee was only like £30m. But he was worse than all 3 of those.

Would take on a loan with an option only.

I don't think it would work well...we have a history of taking cast offs from the 6, and it rarely works out for us. (Butt, Geremi, Smith, Duff, Babayaro)

As someone mentioned somewhere, last season we didnt have a real style or identity, so no type of attacker could really thrive. We struck a bit of gold with the Murphy/Isak telepathy, but obviously Isak turned out to be a snake, and Murphy...well Murphy.

He gets a lot of hate, but I dont think he's anywhere near as bad as made out. Yes he has massive brainfarts, and isnt setting the world alight with skill, but with the right partner he has shown he can be very effective. On the downside, his age is now against him.

I'm not sure what to make of taking on these players after they've got their big move and it inevitably didn't work out. To a certain extent they feel like damaged goods. There are obvious exceptions to the rule (Salah, KDB) but I dunno, Delap also just didn't look very good at Chelsea when he did play.

I remember last season when The Rat was being linked away and we were ru.kured to be in for Jackson. Felt like such a massive comedown. A joke in fact. Now look at us. We'd legit be fortunate to get him.

Sometimes I think I'm overreacting and we're gonna smash it next year. Other times I think it's so obvious we're on the decline. We had our moment in the sun and won a cup. More than I ever expected to be honest, so probably need to be grateful of that. We'll know by October what our trajectory is I think. Win the majority of our games early on and everything is rosy again. Such is life.

The ONE positive last year was the reality check we were dealt. I was far too optimistic about the recruits last summer and the disappointment really stung. At least if we sign Delap, I won't delude myself into thinking that he'll come good.
