Parsley
Would rather persevere with our current options - particularly Osula - than sign Delap. I don't think he's a bad player but he doesn't move the needle nearly enough for what he would cost and we have more pressing priorities.

KaKa
Delap will go to Everton and he'll do very well there. Hopefully our Newcastle striker options also come good.

The Prophet
From todays Daily Mail article on Tonali" "Newcastle United are rekindling their long-standing interest in Netherlands midfielder Kees Smit as they prepare for Sandro Tonali's departure, with Tottenham poised to make an improved offer for the Italian after having their opening £75m bid rejected. Eddie Howe's recruitment staff have been working through a number of options to strengthen their midfield and AZ Alkmaar's Smit is one they admire greatly. Competition has been fierce for the 20-year-old but, after Smit missed out on a place in Ronald Koeman's Netherlands World Cup squad, Newcastle hope they can tempt him with the prospect of regular first-team football in the Premier League." I know nothing about him other than how highly rated he is. Feel like this is one where we may well go for but get trumped by a bigger team. From memory one of the places he was heavily linked with was Real Madrid though and now that they have Mourinho maybe they are not as interested. Could be the time to bid for him and see what happens.

Someone said the other day @Minhosa perhaps? That they have a hunch we’ll get him. I think it could be spot on.

He's done very little since January. One goal, one assist, and a knock he's been managing. They'll be lucky to get half that 60m, and I say this as someone who thought I was looking at a De Bruyne regen when I first saw him.

You know as soon as we try a 35/40m bid its going to either be loudly declined or advertised as an opening offer looking to attract other interested parties. I'm sorry lads, but I just can't get excited for Kees Smit. Not because I don't rate him, but because it is the most obvious cartel hijack of all time if we got to the stage where the deal would be all but complete. I've seen this movie too many times. Whoever would hijack it probably wouldn't even play him that much.

Even if we got 90/100m for Tonali I cannot see us spending that much on a non striker. Might turn out to be a false economy if he's class but my guess is the Tonali fee gets us 2 or maybe even 3 players in. Could of course be either a load of shite or the fee is more modest. It could also mean we return to the young prospects we were rumoured to be looking at in the Jan I think the other one No Hope mentioned was Kevin Danois? I am not against spending a good chunk on something that either works with who we plan to go forward with in midfield (so might not be a like for like Tonali replacement) or spending a good chunk of the money on that new signing. A hot prospect at that sort of fee sounds like a big gamble but as I keep saying the fee may be a load of shite if he was sub 40m you could make a case as it feels like these days 30/40m is the new/old 10/15m punts used to be back in the day its not financially restrictive for a lot of clubs now meaning more competition. Toon No9
Kees Smit is an exiting prospect. But I'm sure bigger clubs will come in for him. More realistic I would say is the two swedes mentioned Ayari and Bergvall. Being from Sweden myself I'd choose Ayari if it should stand between them. There’s only Liverpool maybe as a destination for Smit but I don’t see where he fits Mourinho isn’t touching him - Barca will sign a 9 - PSG don’t need him I think we have a genuine chance at the 35m to 40m mark
