He is a good player, but not really what we need.

This. We need a proper right winger. Not a number 10 that occasionally drifts out to the right

The thing our midfield lacks the most if real pace, we have it up top and our full backs are ok.. but midfield we will always struggle when chasing back, and equally struggle to break lines and carry the ball at pace towards a defence.

When you have the likes of Gordon, Isak or Barnes looking to run onto a through pass while someone like Gibbs-White runs at pace directly at defenders, that presents a whole different scenario than what we currently have.

The front three could essentially change positions throughout a game which would be a nightmare for opposing teams.

(Potential first team when all fit.. or signed)

Gordon                      Isak

            Gibbs-White

Big Joe - Bruno - Tonali

Hall Botman Silva Livramento

                    Pope

It's possible that we'd do both, now that Anderson has gone.

I'm more than convinced that MGW could play right, 10 and 8 but I would like a more orthodox RW.

I think there has been healthy debate recently about the type of right winger we do need, with some fans saying we need more of a technical wide man that can pick a pass against the low block and others preferring a similar profile to what Gordon brings down the left.

Gibbs-White is a hybrid of both, he is proficient in the technical side but has the work rate and drive to run at players when needed.

We have also seen that the better technical wide players are comfortable coming in to the middle and playing in the 10 role, so I don’t see it as a stretch to think that MGB would be as comfortable on the right as he is through the middle. If anything, I could see him and Tonali swapping positions during the game like Joeinton and Willock did.

I don't claim to be any sort of analyst (or TCD😂), and I don't watch Forest that often but i'm sure MGW is very (very) one footed (right).

I'd love us to sign him, I think he's great, but i'm not that sure Eddie would want another player to heavily reliant on one foot on the right hand side.

I could well be shot down here with video upon video of him sticking them in the top corner with his left 😂

MGW seems a similar profile to Maddison and Szoboszlai who we where supposed to be very keen on last summer.

Still think the Anderson fee is all part of a MGW to us fiddle factor. We’ll know in good time. Would be happy if we get him. Willock  needs another porn ‘tache to compete with!

Tonali will help a lot with the pace in midfield. He doesn't look it, but he is exceptionally fast. He was apparently the fastest player in Milan, include the likes of Leao.

At least it’s the right foot!

He must be quick if he was playing for Madrid and Milan.

I prefer him to Szob, a lot more dynamic. I’d say Maddison is the better player but he’s a bit older so MGW fits us more than the other two would have done. He’d be a very different player to what we have but it doesn’t solve the RW problem

I've just checked out a video on Youtube. I see what you mean. Unusually for a British player, he much prefers to use the outside of his right foot rather than use his left. However, he is pretty good with that, so I'm not sure it's a problem.

It was quite an impressive highlights reel. He is very quick, and that would be an asset for us. In fact, it made me wonder why he hasn't made the England squad. I guess there's a fair bit of competition of that role.

And Gareth Southgate is the manager.

You’d be asking Isak to do defensive work on the right side with this to cover the full back, given this is how Real Madrid play in not saying it’s impossible but IMO Isak needs to be kept as a 9 high up the pitch, and if you want to put Isak and a 10 in behind you’d be better to drop to two CMs with the 10 dropping deeper when needed in a 4231

Mental that people don't rate MGW, he's absolutely class.

There's nothing not to like, big, strong, quick, good feet, big game player, leadership, versatile and he's got so much more to give.

I agree, but big? He’s very small

He isn’t as one footed as Miggy but he does overly favour his right foot.

The difference between the two is that Almiron will work to get the ball back on to his left at the detriment of play, whereas Gibbs-White won’t, instead using the outside of his right foot if he couldn’t pick the pass with his left.

Soule, who we’ve been linked to as well, has a similar play-style too. Might be the kind of profile we’re looking at.

Soulè reminds me of Olise

Wouldn't mind a purple RW PLUS Soule - almost the Minteh and backup replacement in one go.  Murphy is more the dogsbody journeyman who fills in now and then, the new Ritchie perhaps but higher calibre.  Even MGW plus Soule, gives us different options. MGW is very good and has those Bruno level high standards too
