aussiemag
He’s a far better left back than he is right back. Hall is already far better and has a higher ceiling. If he was to stay he would have to be a rotation option. Which the wage we will have to pay him will be too much for.

Dr.Spaceman
More than happy for him to stay, I just hope he repays our faith in him and doesn't decide to jump ship the moment he has a good season and others are sniffing around.

If he's staying he has to renew his deal like, we either need to make that big profit or peddle this window. Next year he would be less than what we've paid plus who knows how much of the next fee Southampton get.

Isn't their a scenario in which he stays here for the next 10 years and becomes a club legend?

Ended up going for 25.

Geogaddi
Don't think he has any intention of signing a new deal but has not yet shown he is good enough for an elite club, think we could be stuck as nobody is paying big money for him so he will probably run his contract down and leave on a free in a couple of years. Dr.Spaceman
Aye, fair enough. Wasn't sure if it was locked in that he was unwilling to renew. Hopefully if one or two back off he has a change of heart.

Unfortunately that's just how it has worked out for us. When we signed him he had already suffered one major injury in his career. Then he went on to have an outstanding season for us and his value rocketed. Now he's plagued with injury yet again, his value has plummeted again. Dr.Spaceman
Surely you would come to some sort of agreement with a release clause, bit of a pay rise but everyone wins.
simonsays
A player with his injury record would be taking a big risk trying to run his contract down. Edited May 7 by simonsays
AyeDubbleYoo
Maybe his best chance of a big move is with no transfer fee now.
Dokko
The smart move for him is to sign a new deal and protect his pay like botman. See how this season goes for us and him. We need a RB though to compete and a back LB.
Doctor Zaius
He'll be miraculously fit for the world cup no doubt. Frankly, he's been fucking shit this season but I will concede he is a good bit limited player. For the most part, he's very good defensively (if you ignore him being at fault for multiple goals since he returned from his latest frequent injury spell). The problem is that he's not very good going forward and he won't improve that aspect of his game I don't think. He's in the Aaron Wan Bissaka mould of being good one on one defensively, but not having enough about him for the top teams imo. Albeit he is a better player than AWB. I disagree on him about the going forward bit, he can carry the ball very effectively when he's fully fit. His delivery isn't great though, so he's limited in that aspect. But that's his only weakness.

KaKa
It's messed up that he's not signing a new deal because I can see lesser offers due to all these injuries, and with his contract winding down, they may need to be considered.

SEMTEX
I mean, it's not exactly an area of strength for England, especially with Trent getting the cold shoulder. I reckon he still goes and it's been communicated with Tuchy that he'll be fit to play.
