Ashley17
Hall hasn’t been a squad regular by any means, though that is mostly down to injuries. Tino has had more injuries but has the advantage of being part of the U21 setup last year and can comfortably play both sides which is a big deal in a tournament squad. It is odd though, Hall is easily the best actual left back in the country so to not include him is a big call.

Super Duper Branko Strupar
19 minutes ago, Abacus said: Been reading the BBC's article on their own expected squad and any surprising omissions. Harry Maguire (and his mum) were quoted in it, with Foden and Palmer being the key misses in their headline. Hall isn't mentioned at all as being any sort of controversy. There's perhaps a different view of him more nationally than here, one which I don't share, but then I'm a bit biased. Including Tino is odder to me, unless Tuchel just wants defenders that mainly defend either on the left or the right. I still think he's a better left back defensively than Hall and that it might be his better position. Obviously Hall can defend and has had multiple games where he's pocketed the opposition right winger. But I'm not totally sure he's a left back at the same time. A shame Hall's skills couldn't be utilised. But then there will be Foden and Palmer fans saying the same. He looks to have gone with players that can play different positions to me. With no Palmer, Foden or MGW, his 10 options are Bellingham and Rogers. If O'Reilly is going that's a LB(?) and a spare midfielder/10. Don't know who starts at LB but he has Tino and Burn for there too seemingly. And a RB and a CB to boot. You'd imagine Konsa and Guehi start, so it's options around them. Saka and maybe Gordon start either side of Kane. Eze will be in there for CM and LW. Madueke both sides-ish. He could well start with Henderson and Rice in there. Think Hall loses out potentially for his lack of flexibility, which is silly, imo. I dont expect MLS to go but if he does that's mad.

I’m thinking he finally did what no one else had the balls to do and choose his team. Like he didn’t bring just names, he sees players he wants in his system not just the players with the biggest reputations. It was always wild to me to watch y'all try and have Gerrard and Lampard in the same team and it continually not work but no one had the balls to drop one of them for the betterment of the team. NWMag
I don’t think Hall will blame Eddie/Newcastle - he hasn’t been in all of Tuchels squads so it’s not like it’s the first time he hasn’t been picked, and it doesn’t make sense for it to be because he’s been benched - Gordon hasn’t played for over a month yet he’s in, so it’s on Tuchel whatever the reason is

But I really hope he doesn't see this as a Newcastle thing and agents get in his ear telling him he needs to be at a bigger team if he wants to play for England. Don't think there's any grounds for thinking that considering Burn, Gordon and Tino all got in on the back of fairly underwhelming seasons at Newcastle. tgarve
True geordie True grifter Hall played in the last game ahead of burn Howe mentored him from 18 to now, he played about 45 games this season Tino getting called up in his place blows this out the water. He’s hasn’t played for months
RobsonsWonderland
I still reckon certain players knew where they were with regards to the final squad announcement weeks ago. I mean England must have been in touch with regards to the fitness and selection of Tino, Burn and Gordon. Howe might have actually have been protecting Hall over this period ?
