For a start Burn, Tino and Gordon all got picked and Shaw and Maguire didn't so it's nothing to do with Newcastle/Man Utd. He made 30 appearances in the PL and 10 in the CL, plus he was called up for (and played in) both England friendlies so it's not as if he hasn't been given a chance to prove himself.
