Weird how we lost because it rained. It normally never rains in Newcastle.

They were just better than us on the night. Looking forward to the game at their place. Hope we change a few things to help us retain posession in the middle of the pitch.

I'll be very interested to see how Dortmund set up at home in a couple of weeks, you'd imagine they'd be slightly more front foot in front of their own fans, which could play into our hands.

You've covered all bases there haven't you?  Dortmund were excellent but we huffed and puffed, yet a draw would probably have been right.

Not really. They were organised, moved it well and we're really threatening on the break. We weren't at our very best, but that's partly because of the above.

We were better second half, but that was partly game state as well with Dortmund getting deeper.

Even game overall, whilst accepting as the away side they cant be begrudged the win.

Given the thinness of squad when injuries hit, that was pretty much our first January after 13years of Ashley team - no criticisms here.

PSV 97 vibes. Think the next game decides it. Win and through.Lose and out.

Thought we held our own and then some tonight, just got done in by some really astute attacking plays that nailed our vulnerabilities. On another night we come away with a 2-1 win, just wasn't meant to be. Few suspect performances but nothing to worry about long term. Just hope Isak and Murph are okay. As an aside, really like the attacking fret Targett can offer.

Close game. Didn't get the luck with the Wilson shot or header. Injuries affected the side. Joelinton not back to his best yet, Miggy nullified and went into his shell somewhat and a few players weren't at their usual high standards (Trippier will never have so many corners and not produce an assist again in his life). Dortmund very strong tactically and great on their counters.

It's an elite competition and we were found a little wanting. It's going to happen. I still think we can qualify from this group.  Howay the lads !!

Just wasn’t our night tonight. Key players not at the level we’ve seen before.

Our deliveries into the box were predictable and easy for their CBs to defend.

Injuries undoubtedly unsettled our rhythm but we just didn’t have the answers tonight.

Gordon was brilliant though, he’s so exciting and positive on the ball. He was always trying to make things happen.

Just now, Holloway said:

Yeah ultimately had a one of those nights feel about it. Their defence were sound in the air but wobbling elsewhere, I thought we were good to come back around the hour but it spluttered a bit

The sad thing was that if Murphy stays on, with the form he is in, I like his chances to make something happen, and we were denied that opportunity too.

Was just a night where things just didn't happen for us. Started with the Isak injury and didn't get better from there.

And yet despite all that we still looked like we might get something right up until the end. Just so unfortunate tonight.

Hard to bear. Was pretty even other than two moments where they dispossessed us middle of their half while Trippier was on the attack and they exploited it. First time they probably should have scored, second time they did us. We didn't bombard them but had the chances to at least take a point.

Pressure was on them tonight because they had to win to stay in it, will be interesting over there when a draw for them would be a good result in terms of the head-to-head rule. Might work in our favour but I reckon we've got enough to beat them.
