Dortmund deserved to go in at half time in the lead. No dout.

It depends how you look at it. We caught them out time and time again, but they kept fouling us a little further up the pitch and the referee never picked up on what they were doing. If he started booking their players, they would have stopped and we would have had more chances. There was one where they almost fouled our player, only for him to get away and pass, otherwise if he brought him down it would have been a red card.

There is no excuse for that penalty shout either.

Fucking referee and VAR were a disgrace there. They fouled all game, only got what, 2 reluctant yellow cards.

Should have a penalty, absolute fucking disgraceful stuff.

Been sniffing glue again Stiffler?

Ref was poor but no way should we have had a pen.

Dortmund just a class above us tbh, our passing, pressing were poor and build up too slow.

Wilson, Joelinton, Longstaff, Bruno all poor, Almiron started ok but disappeared 2nd half

Pope - 7

Trippier - 6

Lascelles - 6

Schar - 7

Burn - 6

Longstaff - 5

Bruno - 7

Joelinton - 5

Almiron - 6

Wilson - 6

Gordon - 8

Shut Trippier down and you shut NUFC down. Hats off to Dortmund, tactically they absolutely nailed that and defended brilliantly.

Aye, happy for him. Hear Vegan shoes have tremendous traction on wet cobblestone. Would hate for that to be inaccurate.

 hope he gets a sliver from his banister as he makes his way to bed tonight.

Absolutely fucking sick of it. We went ages not having a threat from set pieces and wasting corners because they fucking went short all the time.

We have had Tonali in the squad who hasn’t had a look in. Look at that Targett freekick towards the end, something different from someone else, and we were unlucky not to score.

That throw in was one of the stupidest things I’ve fucking seen, but he’ll do the same on corners when chasing a goal towards the end of games.

Calm down.  This is exactly why the term "knee jerk" was invented.

Dortmund had the first half but we were far the better team in the second half.  No disgrace and certainly not "battered" or "crap" as some contributors said tonight on here.  I can't stand our "new wave" supporters.

I agree

Dortmund were excellent.

We huffed and puffed but thought Almiron and Wilson were a bit too easy to play against.

A draw probably would have been about right, but Dortmund defended well, rode their luck and we can't grumble too much at the result.

It's concerning the sway Trippier has on set pieces like. We've got tonali and the option of Targett with his out swinger. We nearly scored from Targetts delivery yet tripps still persists with poor deliveries.

He shouldn't be taking them at all from the left side if Tonali(well...) or Targett is on. Wastes too much time getting to the other side of the pitch to take it.

Gonna happen a few times this season.

If we go behind and a well organised team decides to sit back and ask us to break them down we don't have the quality on the ball to break them down.

Frustrating, game in two weeks is going to be absolutely fucking massive.

I’m basing it on the actual first half not what could’ve happened with a different ref.  They created more chances and good chances at that.

Never a penalty for me.

Don't agree they were another level ,wasn"t that much in it

Very even game that could have gone either way.

Really don't get the fuss being made about the Dortmund performance at all.

If Isak stays on we win this comfortably IMO.

Wilson playing the lone role upfront before we switched formation, ultimately cost us.

We needed more involvement from our striker in general play to better control the game in central areas and limit their counter opportunities.

How is it knee jerk. It’s something he always does and something loads of us have picked up on well before tonight. Tonight was just the most extreme and obvious example.

Dortmund's attack was way better than ours, Pope is the reason they scored only once. We were also a bit unlucky, but we are again not creative enough against deep lying defences.

Sad thing is the injuries, we are really on thin ice already.

They were better, we were unlucky, they stayed healthy, we had several deaths. Still had more clear chances than them, despite it all. Trust Eddie to learn from it. Plus someone probably isn't going to any more games, so we'll be reet.

We played canny good today but when the opposition are sitting on a lead you have to make your set pieces count. We never changed it up to puzzle there defence or keeper. That can make the difference in tight games like these.
