There was always the worry that peaking too early last season when the squad wasn't ready would lead to this. The long term demotivation and weakening of the mental strength of the team being shredded is now what worries me. To go from the way the players played last season to their current plight is abysmal and at this point in time I'm really not sure who to blame. We could have played a simple passing game but never bothered. No pressure on them at all when they had the ball, our players running parallel with their attackers running towards our goal instead of closing down. That wasn’t just fatigue, that was downright fucking laziness and a disgrace to their own good work in the past couple of years. I’m understanding of the fact that we’ve dealt with and still are dealing with injuries and fatigue. But we continue to get the basics wrong away from home. 5 losses in the last 6 games (incl. Chelsea on pens) is simply not good enough which ever way you want to twist it. For me, Eddie’s got a lot of credit in the bank but there will be questions asked sooner rather than later if this continues from the higher-ups (the ones above Staveley and Mehrdad) ?
