If he's good enough for Howe and Klopp then he's good enough for me.

Shaking your hand probably feels like holding wet lettuce.

I’d much rather start giving Howe top players, or players with huge potential instead of asking him to keep producing miracles with lesser ones.

If we are signing DCL, the only reason would be Howe is pushing for it. I wouldn't put this at anyone else's door.

Yeah I mean who are we to challenge that cluster of expertise! Can’t wait see him unveiled now!

Can see it now. Unveiling our new Saudi green away shirt in a skirt and high heels in the Irish Bar.

I would put him at anyone else’s door other than hours but if the gaffa wants him 🤷🏻‍♂️

My main concern with DCL will be the contract length.

As an addition to the squad over the next couple of years, I think he’d be fairly decent as a backup CF and target man type to give us something a bit different. The injuries are a real concern, but on a free it’s mitigated somewhat.

My worry though is he gets a four or five year deal on a hefty wage and in a couple of years he’s just dead weight that we could do without.

Ancelotti picked him all the time too.

Howe, Klopp and Ancelotti.

Ancelotti had no choice, there wasn't anyone else. He's just crocked too often man.  We should be aiming higher.

That’s my main concern. His injury record:

I’d rather we swerve this one. Fit and available no problem (even in a skirt) I just think his injury record should be a red flag and there maybe better options to uncover out there.

Tbf, there's only one source claiming we are in for him and I think it said it was Graeme Bailey pushing it, so I would take it with a pinch of salt.

But can't deny that Howe has always seemed to rate him, so if it wasn't for the injuries, you could see us going in for him on a pay as you play sort of deal, which is mentioned in that article.

He tried to sign him for Napoli.

A lot of players have a bad injury history when it’s written down. This is Isak and it doesn’t even include the fact that he could barely move from February onwards and would have missed more games if we’d had a real alternative.

Scored 30 in 59 for Carlo. Scored in four consecutive games for Rafa, before breaking his toe. Both Carlo and Rafa is four years ago.

One goal and one assist in 224 minutes last season under Moyes, so a flicker of hope there. Most of the rest of the time is under Sean Dyche or Frank Lampard, so mitigating factors.

He's better than Wilson. If Eddie likes him, I say go for it.

i've said it many times. I'll be very surprised if we don't go for him.

We have tried multiple times before, including last summer.

We only tried last summer due to our PSR situation tbf.

How? We were happy to pay £30m for him (or close to that figure).

How did that have anything to do with our psr situation?

I think it was going to be part of a deal with Minteh going the other way.  Similar to the Vlach/Anderson deal but with a player we may have actually used coming to us

Because it was part of any deal to take Minteh to Everton. It was to get around PSR.

Ah ok, i'm not sure on that tbh.

I just know he was floated when Howe first came in, the summer we got Isak and again last summer.

Yeah, no doubt we had some interest in him - my hope is we are looking at someone younger and more versatile now though
