Dominic Calvert-Lewin (playing for Leeds United)

Recommended Posts

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has previously lavished praise on Calvert-Lewin.

This came ahead of the Merseyside derby in 2020, at a time when the 28-year-old was in incredible form, having scored nine goals in six games for Everton including two hat-tricks.

Klopp backed Calvert-Lewin to make it big, stating that he has everything that makes a top striker. He said: “Calvert-Lewin, I really expected him to make big steps in the next few years and he did.

“He has everything you need in a top striker: size, mobility, speed, desire, technically really, really good, in the air, finishing with his head, both feet.”

I’ve just got this nagging feeling that he’ll sign for someone and do alright. Not saying he should be a priority but we clearly have areas of the team we want to strengthen and allocate resources to and a second striker isn’t one of them. If Wilson doesn’t sign or even if he does can’t shake that DCL would be a better option.

Howe wanted him when he was valued at £40m+ so if he's available on a free, then you could easily see it happening. `it would allow us to spend big on other areas so you can see the logic.

The big doubt would be whether he's a crock, not his ability. Howe liked him back then, just don't think he's the type to change his view on a player if he rates them.
