Monters
Alongside the shit optics, saying it in front of his son and at NUFC where Beardsley is one of the best players ever. Its absolute bollocks, Beardsley could play a myriad of positions in the modern game! Anywhere where pace, touch, vision, dribbling, passing and shooting are needed he could play! GOTONEW
It's funny, because if Beardsley was playing today, in his prime today, he would be a worldwide superstar. He was one of those who's genius was displayed in a seemingly effortlessly way. But so often jaw-dropping. Mitchell is clearly a clown. Any scout would shit their pants if they found a young player who closely resembled a Beardsley type player. But, like it or not, it wouldn't be us who that player signed for

I think he was just the wrong hire for a club our size. His remit was to keep within budget following the close call with PSR which led to Staveley leaving, but he failed to realise we are a big club with big players with big demands. We aren't Brighton. We need a DOF who has the vision of being the best and treats our staff with the respect their position deserves. I include Isak in that, not just the manager. Hanshithispantz
He would have said this right off the back of Bernardo Silva being one of the best players on the planet

It's staggering that someone at his level can be that braindead like.

Like, who gives a shit...the dude was spectacular. I was around for both his first and second stint with us, and he was spectacular in both periods. In that one statement...Mitchell has shown his cards, and they're not a winning hand.
Interpolic
Beardsley would be one of the best players in the PL today. Better than Saka, Palmer, Rogers, Cherkhi. Also more hardworking than any of them. Nothing about his game that wouldn't fit. Worra gobshite.

Shays Given Tim Flowers
Also terribly depressing that someone high up in football says the best English footballer of all time wouldn’t have been a pro in today’s game.

Tbf it’s obvious only based on what we know - Hope’s article is so poorly written that if you didn’t know that already, then it actually makes it appear that it’s Howe saying it, as the use of ‘he’ established in the clause before is clearly referring to Howe as the subject of it. It’s incredible the piss poor writing and sub editing which passes for journalism these days.
The Prophet
Obviously don't want to kick the geezer with everything going on, but what was Eales playing at here? Misses out on Dougie Freedman after a long and public hiring process, then panics and asks his mate to do him a favour without thinking through whether it was a good fit. Poor stuff. Eales himself seems to have been a poor appointment, and I say that with full admiration for his willingness to work through a terrible illness. Which was daft in itself. Mike
I'd have Beardsley in the 11 vs Queelag next week tbh.

Whether that was quality leadership or taking a lot of the open goals that were available to him, who knows.

I think the club was in a growth phase regardless of his involvement tbh, but he probably did a lot of unseen work so there is that.
