To be fair I also wonder if Isak would do the same even if we give him a new contract at that time. He is a fucking top level snake. Would he be satisfied for that pay rise? alexf
Oh and just to add....it never sat right with me that his guy was in amongst the celebrations and on the open top bus parade. He contributed fuck all to our cup win and had only been here 5 minutes so I always disliked him sharing in our triumph even back then.
Smal
Hope: Eddie Howe’s wish has always been to reintegrate Isak into his squad, believing it would be possible if the transfer deadline passed with him still on Tyneside. That challenge has now got a whole lot harder, after Isak went public with claims of ‘broken relationships’ and ‘broken promises’. But what is mystifying those close to the club is that his relationships with Howe, the coaching staff and his team-mates have never been broken, and nor have there been promises of allowing him to leave. His gripe, they assume, is the withdrawal of what he believed was a contract promise made by former co-owner Amanda Staveley in spring of last year. She believed Isak was worth and was owed a pay increase, even if an offer was never made or the finer details discussed. When Staveley left Newcastle, against her wishes, and a new hierarchal structure was formed, new sporting director Paul Mitchell told Isak and his camp the club would not discuss a deal because he had four years to run and was already among the top earners. This was true, but Staveley’s thinking was that a new contract would keep Isak happy, reward his performance and avoid a scenario such as the one that has played out this summer. Dyeyzzon
Glad we've seen the back of him but it's unfair that he left behind the mess of a summer that everyone had to clean up - Isak, summer transfers, etc

Smal
have honestly wondered on several occasions whether he deliberately sabotaged things from his initial not-fit-for-purpose statement all the way through to the end was an unmitigated disaster
Turnbull2000
Craig Hope. Quote They wanted Trafford, they needed Trafford. Trafford would have had a brilliant deal that made sense on so many levels. And then my old friend, Paul Mitchell. Now Paul Mitchell annoyed and angered Burnley with his manner, so I'm told, the manner of his negotiation over the last 12 months. Burnley quite rightly said, 'now if you value this player as much as you do, pay what we're asking' and the deal wasn't outlandish, it wasn't ridiculous. Yes it might have been a little bit over the odds but if you want that player go and pay it. I think Burnley were within their rights to say that. Now the relationship broke down to such a point that between Burnley and Newcastle guys, honestly, it was almost irreparable and we're saying now that Brentford want to sell Wissa to Tottenham. Burnley wanted to sell Trafford to anybody but Newcastle and that I'm told is because of Paul Mitchell. Christ This twat has potentially cost us millions and set us back a couple of years.
