Looked like he slipped

He doesn't like. He just starts an attempt to kick the ball then just stops. Like his brain just BSOD'd and disconnected from his body.

He had a stinker, other than today he's been ridiculously good for us.

The result means we can brush it under the carpet.  Feel bad for him but confident he'll only get stronger.

Can forgive him I’m sure, he’s played every minute of every game for a couple of months. Must be shattered, shame we cannot give him a rest Saturday.

Yeah probably needed a rest in hindsight. Was having an all time shocker. Everything he did was way off it.

I know it's hard for a player to be hooked at halftime like that but I think it was best for him and us that we did.

Hopefully he got all his errors out the way in one game and can return to his exceptional form for the next one as we are gonna need him now as our only fit right footed cb.

Looked like his plant foot (left) slipped and caused him to sit down.

It likely doesn’t take much for a PL-quality player to be off - when you’re at that level, a really small level of exhaustion or concentration reduction is liable to have negative consequences.  I was critical of his debut vs Liverpool for concentration lapses - happily, he’s made me look like an over-worrying wanker this season, and has been first class in pretty much every game he’s played this season.  We all know we needed a ball-playing CB in there; the lad has that, he’s a proper footballer.  I think this is one of those transfers that Howe and his team nailed - every player will have an ‘off-day’ unless they’re on the Messi-level.  If he has several performances like that in a row - then yes, Howe should hook the lad.  There’s no arguing he was shite today - but let’s not crucify him.

Seems to cost us a lot mind. Liverpool, Chelsea, tonight x 2. I like him but he costs a lot of goals. That's just a fact.

That’s four goals after playing almost every game all season and I can’t blame him for the Liverpool goal. He had a shocker today but no need to rewrite history, he had directly made one costly mistake all season before tonight which is ridiculous form in a new tough league.

We really need him to bounce back quickly though with both Burn and Schär. At least the next match comes quickly.

Is Lascelles injured? Wouldn't be against him & Botman on Saturday just to give Thiaw a bit of respite ready for City.

Howe said he's still out and burn will be back before him in the post match interview. Said his body doesn't feel right.

He needs to trust Alex Murphy a bit more imo for the odd cameo

Hope the club doesn’t feel the need to dole out another year to him.

Glad we won for his sake. He can now go into training and be ripped by his teammates for that first goal, and it brushed off as a laugh and forget. Mind back on how he’s mostly been for us, which is strong at the back.

And the mistake against Chelsea was only so bad because of an outrageous bit of play from Joao Pedro.

I think he was bullied by DCL a bit and the early yellow affected quite a lot. Positive that he didnt see red.

The first goal was just a slip, that could happen regardless of who he was up against. The second might not even be a legitimate penalty. There's no way to tell since they refused to show any other angle which could have cleared up whether DCL knocked Thiaw's arm.

Thiaw did have a shaky game but there's not a defender on our books who hasn't had bad days.

+ and in football. Honestly the fact that Thiaw’s baseline with us has been an 8/10 or 8.5/10 should be talked about way more. He’s pocketed better CFs than DCL.
