Never imagined he’d be this good mind, absolutely class.

Let him off for the tackle, pretty sure they were going to break if he didn’t make it.

I'd actually call it 'taking one for the team'. They had a dangerous break and was the right call.

tbf the yellow wasn't rash - looks to me like he knew he got done and took a yellow rather than allow an attack.

I remember him giving the ball away under no pressure once. Apart from that, class.

Used to be a thing about taking a yellow for the team.

But in fairness, to be consistent, the ref then really needed to book himself afterwards for the exact same reason. Bruno knew.

Anyway he was pretty superb again.

It's the best selection of defenders full stop.

Don't disagree at all, we're just 1 LB short of having 2 top players in each position (counting Tino just as a RB)

Had a rash 10 minutes in the first half. So aggressive with his pressing and how far up he wants to go. Along with what we ask our CB’s to do. I feel he gets caught wrong side now and then and gets rolled.

Still, basically a bad 10 minutes and a few ropey moments against Bournemouth. To go with all the 8 and 9/10 performances.

I’ll take it. He’s class.

How long before we discuss if hes better than Botman?

I genuinely think he is the best CB in the squad. Has been so consistent since inserted in the starting lineup. He's got everything, pace, physicality, composure, good passing/vision, very solid defending. At this rate he will soon become the best ever CB at this club.

I also think that he's better than Botman. Yes I know it's early days but he already looks quicker and doesn't get caught "square on" with the opposition attacker which Botman has a tendency to do.

Pretty confident he will make the next Germany squad which is great for us (except for not getting a rest) because it will again show players from abroad how good Howe is at getting the best out of players and giving them more of a chance of playing for their country

Love him to bits, think he's great. I just think Botman, injury free, is genuinely best in class throughout the league permanently - I think Thiaw will have a confidence volatility that Botman doesn't.

Yeah, I agree - a fit Botman could be one of the best centre backs on the planet.  If he can stay fit.

Botman at his best is still better but I don’t think we can see that version again, so probably Thiaw is already the better one
