Will Osula: Goal vs Man United nominated for PL Goal of the Season

Why would you sell him? He looks like your best striker.

We need to trade more intelligently. This might be a purple patch. Players in that sort of form - Osula now, Murphy last year, Almiron a few years back - is a bit of a Howe Era trend. You just never know.

I'd keep him under ideal circumstances, but we live in an SCR world. As good as he's looked of late, I've seen him hit the corner flag with a shot against Villa in the cup and miss the ball completely against Arsenal away.

Personally I'd rather we invested strongly in our GK and back 4 (CB especially because Thiaw and Botman have clangers more often than not in them)

The season we finished 4th was built on very solid defense and from memory we only lost 4 games that year. We drew a lot yes but also won enough to finish 4th.

I'd rather this lad continued to develop here next season.

Keep reading he is/was a poor finisher but he typically scores or hits the target and has it saved.

He's up there in conversion rate this season and is far outperforming his expected goals.

Aside from that I don't even recall any glaring misses where he's skied it over like Wissa has been doing this season, or just missed the target completely and made a complete mess of a chance.

I just haven't seen him score one where he just passes it into the net or chips the keeper. That's generally a trait of a natural finisher for me. They show the keeper the eyes and then put it somewhere else.

But I do take the point in the other thread that he can use both feet which is a fantastic strength in itself. Plus he's not had that many starts, maybe we haven't seen his full repertoire.

It's not, but it's Wissa that needs to be upgraded.

Wissa needs to get his shit together. No idea what the problem is but there is one for sure.

Very likeable player. Thinking about his first goal yesterday: it's not an amazing finish or anything but it feels like none of our strikers have been regularly putting that type of chance away this season. Not that he has either! But it's promising. We should keep him and make sure he gets playing time, unless some worldie striker falls into our lap.

Hasn't played in ages. You can't really judge him on that. Quite happy to see him grt a run of games with Woltemade behind him. Think that partnership has great potential as they are exact opposites of each other.

👌Seriously though. I love his unpredictable style. He's interesting to watch and seems he is growing into leading the line (which was a worry)

Don't think he understands pressure atm, but that changes as he gets senior. Just hope e don't coach the unpredictable out of him. Happens too often (Grealish, foden, rooney) as football becomes a game of chess.

Not sure if a penny is dropping or has dropped, because he's getting more minutes, a bit of both, and which one led to the other, but seeing the way this lad has kicked on the last few weeks has been great to watch. Long may it continue

im not sure what to make of Osula, im not convinced but at times he looks to have great potential but for now im not having him and just think he's hit a patch.

His running is erratic , movement at times rubbish but he's improving.

I watched him closely against Bournemouth and he was bad , however against WHam he was canny tbf, theres something nagging at me about him though which i need to get out my head and give him a go !

he's getting better.i'd still sell.

We simply can't sell him until we're clearer on him. If he continues this form into next season he's clearly our #1 striker. Replacing him would take the majority of our budget and we have needs all over the pitch which Osula's development allows us to prioritise.

He's the most Howeball forward we have.

I hope we keep and persist. I love that he is direct and wants to take his chances. We have way too many who hesitate Infront of goal.

Hard to believe you’re saying this and advocating for us to wait until Wissa comes good at the same time in another thread. One is 22, bought for a low fee as a long shot, yet is performing and clearly improving. The other is 29, cost a fortune and has proven to be a failure where he was supposed to be the proven option. If we sell one it very obviously has to be Wissa. We simply cannot afford to have this much money tied up in a player incapable of making an impression even in 10 minute cameos against tired legs.

Perhaps a bit of context on his performance on Sunday, he was playing against West Ham, not wanting to piss on anyones chips but honestly I would of backed myself to of notched at least a hatrick against them

Kids improving from a very low bar but aye maybes he's a decent back up to a proper striker, which won't be the Waterbuffalo or Wolte imo

It's just way too risky to sell him now unless we have a really top forward lined up to come in. He can press, he can run in behind when Nick drops deep, he can finish with both feet, he's fast. He's been working with Howe and the coaches for a long while and should continue his development here.

Very harsh, he's always shown he has a lot to his game. Nobody is really tearing the PL up at his age off the back of random sub appearances. He's developing well.

I really hope to see us build our team around Osula, Hall, Miley, Wolte, Ramsey, Thiaw, Botman and Bruno next season. Give Park some game time too.

That's our core - mostly quite young. Lots of natural improvement.

Keep Burn, Barnes, Schar, Elanga, Joelinton, Willock for rotations and depth. Keep Tonali if he actually wants to stay for real.

Sell the rest, and try to bring in 6 good players aged 23-26 (GK x 2, striker, winger, RB x 2).

Osula will be a serious player.

His record at youth level is also extremely promising he had something like 19 goals in 9 games at youth level

Shows he can finish and is tricky - once he bulks up and can handle adults he could be an excellent asset

his running and movement v Brighton was excellent too. The full back couldn’t cope with him

I find the "it was only West Ham" chatter hilarious tbh, both in terms of the team's performance against them and now Osula [emoji38]

The team has looked awful all season pretty much against everyone in the league. And so of course now there appears to be a bit of hope they're onto something with the new setup and with Osula's performances it's because "it was only West Ham" [emoji38]

Regarding Osula specifically, one thing that's actually quite encouraging is that he came into the team and started scoring even when the team was still playing crap. With the team then playing better on Sunday he looked even more threatening as a result. Very good sign IMO.

His attitude and output has always been good!

His clumsiness has annoyed me in the past and I didn’t see much in his all round game but he has improved a lot. Fair play to him and the posters who have championed him!

Hoping that he keeps it up but firmly think he can
