Will Osula

Recommended Posts

Its make or break for him this season. Big chance for him presently too. Looked class at the u21 Euro's. Hopefully this is his season to explode and find some consistency to reaffirm faith in keeping him.

If not, a move is almost certain next summer.

I don’t think he’s going to make it. Maybe he does need a loan to the Championship but I’ve not seen anything from him yet. He’s certainly not a RW in my opinion.

Buy Samu, Wissa get Muani on loan. Osula on a loan to championship or lower PL. Brentford could be good for Wissa replacement for a season

Last year there were so many times when i wanted him to come on when we needed something upfront, seeing him this pre-season showed me exactly why they didn't trust him. he doesn't look ready and that's a real shame as he's 22 and spent a full season around the first team.

He simply hasn’t played enough senior football at 22.

If you break it down, across his career in all competitions, he’s logged just 2,300 first-team minutes. For context, a full Premier League season is a little over 3,400 minutes, while a full Championship or EFL campaign is more than 4,100 minutes.

He came through an EFL academy, so it’s not as if he was being tested at the highest level there—and without consistent senior football, here or elsewhere, his development will stall. That’s why we’ve seen flashes of quality but nothing sustained. I’ve no doubt we’ll get better at this, but if we’re investing £10m in a player, we have to be far more proactive in their development.

There are clear positives—he’s quick, rangy, and contributes well in build-up play. But he needs to be in a situation where he’s the focal point in attack and has the chance to score goals regularly. Even a full 90 minutes, like the one he played against Wimbledon, was largely wasted—they sat in a deep, compact shape and gave him no space to work with.

The Championship has to be the destination given his age.

Harsh, he got Elanga here.

Nothing to suggest he’s anything near a PL player but we knew that. Friendly doesn’t change anything. Needs at least one full season in the Championship starting and learning the game, then we can look at him again. He’s a raw prospect whose ceiling might be a lot lower than we need it to be.

The idea of him starting PL games for us at the level we’re aiming for is frankly so absurd you have to laugh. [emoji38]

Just turned 22 and has never done much at senior level. It's a big ask to expect him to even be PL standard, let alone a CL player.

I have my doubts.

If a player cant get in the team by 22 they arent likely to be stars going forward

Plenty of examples of players who are late bloomers but he definitely needs more minutes!

Probably not, but demonstrates exacly why we should be taking this chance more often. We could easily sell him to  Burnley/ Leeds/Sunxerland  fow what we paid and going by psr would show  a healthy profit

I think overall the team has not done a good enough job of getting the ball through to him in dangerous positions this pre season.

They haven't played him in behind enough and they haven't crossed the ball well enough either.

When this is the case he doesn't do a good enough job of finding spaces to get on the ball and make things happen for himself.  On the rare occasion he does get on the ball, he then overdoes things and tries too hard out of desperation.

I think we may end up having to fashion him into some sort of wide forward. Preferably on the right where he has had his best performances, and where we could do with another option.
