That's reasonable given his output. Aye but I think the concern is how much of Elanga's fee will it take from our budget. I assume a fair whack. We were operating without a DoF when Bruno was signed, and Botman was being monitored. Under Ashworth, Howe seemed to have the lion's share of the power with transfers. You didn't mention Tonali, but Howe mentioned falling in love with him (of course Tonali wasn't exactly a hidden gem at that point). He does happen to be aware of players in different leagues. And clearly, the head scout is doing what the head scout should do anyway. Edited yesterday at 19:27 by Vinny Green Balls

And we may well buy some this window. But it’s a myth that only shopping in that market will get you consistently challenging at the top end of the table. For all the plaudits Brighton get (obviously rightly to a degree), they’ve finished 6th once and never been close to getting any higher. Leicester cracked it once on the back of Mahrez and Kante, but that wasn’t sustainable. Even if you look at Forest this year, they’ve gone real close, finding a couple of good ones in Murillo and Milenkovic, but the others like Wood, MGW, Elanga etc were PL buys that many would have said at the time they overpaid for. Optimistic Nut Posted yesterday at 19:36 Share Posted yesterday at 19:36 £40m seems about right, would expect we'd have to pay £45-50m with the "Saudi tax". If we're confident we can still get the other players we need I'm not arsed if we have to go a bit extra.

Infinitely Content Posted yesterday at 19:40 Share Posted yesterday at 19:40 An ideal signing for us in many ways. It would take more than £40m though, that would be a steal. I'd be happy with it. I do think we need someone with a bit of creativity and incisiveness against more defensive teams, but I wouldn't want that to be a slight, technical player without much power and running. Gibbs-White would be literally perfect for us, I'd break the bank for him.
