For me it’s not only about playing against low blocks, it’s also about us improving when it comes to ball retention and composure in general play. So that we don’t lose the ball too easily like we do at times and have to chase as well as struggling to control games when we lead. Could also add something like saving our energy and playing games out with more ease.

8 new pages of this thread, I'm guessing there is nothing worth catching up on?

Just a lot of complaining because we went for a fast winger playing in the Prem.

Not too dissimilar to the last Anthony we signed to play down the wing.

Nothing to see here.

Some on here act like it's 2015 when 40 million was a large amount. That's reasonable given his output.

Yes, but PSR limits are still the same as they were in 2015 so its still a large amount

Not really to be fair. I've seen Elanga play more than any of you.

We've all seen his as much as each other since he's been at Forest.

Have to take his youth time with a pinch of salt since it's one season of a cluster fuck that ended with Ragnick doing nowt and ETH, who does piss all coaching.

Of course they’ll be some. And we may well buy some this window. But it’s a myth that only shopping in that market will get you consistently challenging at the top end of the table.

For all the plaudits Brighton get (obviously rightly to a degree), they’ve finished 6th once and never been close to getting any higher. Leicester cracked it once on the back of Mahrez and Kante, but that wasn’t sustainable.

Even if you look at Forest this year, they’ve gone real close, finding a couple of good ones in Murillo and Milenkovic, but the others like Wood, MGW, Elanga etc were PL buys that many would have said at the time they overpaid for.

I don't think anyone's saying only shopping in that market will get you challenging, moreso that it's a tried and tested market for value and quality.

The best players in the league were all brought from abroad. It's not a coincidence, it's a measure of some of the technical quality out there.

The Brighton example is a tad cheeky too, they buy players before they prove their talent at any level, and coincidentally, their biggest sales have been to clubs vying for the champions league and more.

Elanga is a quality player. Far more developed now at Forest than he was at Man United.

Personally think you should be shooting higher. But maybe Howe can bring him to another level.

The higher the fee the better for us.

You've watched Garnacho a ton too, and you rate him at £60 million! [emoji38]  [emoji38]

Still waiting on that £60 million bid to come in for him like you proclaimed by the way.

Honestly man, have some shame.

Just looked, that season under ETH he played 400 prem minutes, which was LW/CF/RW and largely scrap minutes.

Didn't start first 2, lost both, started next 3, won them, then dropped and that was it. Probably sums up ETH in fairness.

I'd love to be shooting higher, indeed there's a bracket of players clearly above Elanga - however I just don't think we're yet in the position to be buying those players. Mbuemo is a prime example, players generally aren't choosing us over Man United yet.

Would rather put big money on someone like Pedro and take a cheap punt on Bakayoko or similar. I’m sure Howe could get the best out of him. Then we would also have a striker to rotate with Isak as well as playing in a more withdrawn role with him. Elanga isn’t transformative in any way when compared to Murphy.

Not really, if their model could get you into the elite places in the division, someone would have cracked it by now. But it doesn’t. It needs to be supplemented by “overpriced”, established PL talent.

So every time we’re linked (not even every time we buy) with one of these “overpriced” PL players, people would do well to remember, these are the type of players (hopefully allied with so cheaper finds from elsewhere) that are proven to get you where you want to be.

In his youth at a career mortuary, he's been very good since he's gone to Forest and had the chance to play.

Given the output player, it would probably be the equivalent of getting someone for shy of 25 million 10 years ago, given the ridiculous inflation in the game.

KaKa you're on here trying to justify £50m for 23 year old Elanga because he had 18 goal involvements, yet suggest £60m for 20 year Garnacho is a ridiculous price when he got 21 goal involvements.

Do you realise how silly you look?

You're so desperate and pathetic you're adding on stats outside of the Premier League

Words fail me man. Just let me know when that £60 million bid comes in.
