£52m plus bonuses when they wanted £60m and this is why you take time and negotiate

52 mil is highway robbery in this day and age for a plug in and play 23 year old PL quality winger. Even if it's the 55 that Forest are trying to spin, we've still got a great deal. I have a feeling we're all going to fall in love with this guy very quickly!

Forgot the great feeling a big signing causes. The club could’ve agreed a fee for Josef Fritz this evening and I’d be buzzing.

In all seriousness, I have massively warmed to this signing. Finally signed a right fucking winger.

Well thank fuck for that. Get Trafford in this week as well, then a CB the next week and then I won't cry about DCL signing the week after...

A year ago when we had a "failed 50m bid" for him, I didn't appreciate at the time how good he could be and just generally, ya know, that Howe knows what he's doing. 52m for a PL-ready and two-footed winger with blistering pace, well happy. Glad we didn't have to wait n elanga :coat:

It was 35 million wasn't it. Just need to look at a few pages towards the start of this thread to see people saying 35 million was far too much for him...

My vague recollection was "reports" saying bids started around 35m and went up to 50m potentially on deadline day, could be wrong like.

Edit - thinking it was maybe we were prepared to pay 35m, but it was far too late and Forest would want 50m plus for him, not that we actually bid that amount

Why would they have to refund them all?

Historically clubs have done that when a player changes number after the release of a new seasons kit. Moot point anyway as Isak will more than likely want to stay 14.

It would be cool if Isak wanted the number 9 because it would show him to be interested in that important piece of the club's heritage; however, he's already scored so many goals in the number 14 that he's well on the way to making that iconic, so fair enough if he wants to carry on. I think we may be without one for a while.

Or give it Niamh.

Isak has worn 14 at 3 clubs, not sure he is desperate for the 9 shirt. He’s iconic enough to wear it, but no reason he can’t make 14 as big for us as Shearer made the 9.

The number 9 shirt was iconic way before Shearer, mate. Come on. That’s the whole reason he insisted on nicking it from Ferdinand.

Bloody finally, a transfer.

Have to say I've warmed to the idea of Elanga. 55 odd mill isn't quite 'a steal' imo (that'd be a David on a free or something) but at most is market value, so I'm optimistic this'll turn out to be a good deal.

Get Trafford in soon, then a top line CB, and we're potentially cooking with gas.
