What is he suppose to do?

Press them, wich he didnt do at all. I can guarantee Osula would make a much better impression coming on for example. Do the shift at least. The bare minimum.

Elanga has disappointed me a lot so far. He seems completely out of form and lacks confidence.

Take, for example, the counter-attack just before the end today. A long ball, one defender in front of him, another just behind him. A very good player could easily break through there and only have the goalkeeper to beat.

But Osula runs about like a puppy that’s just polished off a bottle of Happy Shopper Cherryade, though. Tears about like a loon, sometimes crashing into people, usually not disrupting play at all and isn’t always for the benefit of the team.

How do we know what Elanga’s instructions were? No point him trying to press 4 players all the while, who are all quality technicians on the ball. We’d basically given up pressing as a unit by the time he came on. Save for I think once quite late on.

I’m guessing he was told to stay central’ish and stop that easy ball into their midfield, funnel it out wide and be in a position where he can close certain players or look to go in behind when the chance arises.

He does look low on confidence. But hard to judge Willock or Elanga on that. Seems odd to single him out. Bunch of fucking doom mongers on here

Some of youse calling Elanga worse than shite need to go and have yasels a deeks in the Lewis Hall thread and compare the criticism that was lobbed at him on here in his early days to the plaudits he’s getting on here today

I'm sorry but those saying he should have been pressing are absolutely clueless tactically. Elanga's job was to stop them doing the things that would give them a massive advantage e.g. a defender running the ball straight onto our back line. He did that fine. If you want to see what pressing at the wrong time gets you, I refer you to minute 90+10 against Liverpool, where a decision to press at the wrong time cost us the game.

I have praised almost every player in here. Doom mongers? I was not impressed with him at all. Sure we dont know the exact instructions, but when you have a Tonali out there who is running more than him I will ask questions.

I may be going blind, but not only has he been shite so far, he doesn't seem to have electric pace.  Jacob Muphy ls more athletic and looks to have much quicker acceleration to me.

He can run the 100m in 10.93 seconds

Canny fucking rapid that like

He just falls into the sort of, not good or bad category, for me. Or not long enough on the pitch to even rate him. The same as the papers when they do their player ratings.

Felt like Pope, Botman, Joelinton, Willock and Elanga. All were just average. Neither good nor bad.

But for some reason there’s people in here frothing at the mouth. Because his laziness somehow nearly cost us the game and they’re fucked off that he wasn’t sprinting about aimlessly like a twat.

Go and have a victory wank and calm the fuck down.

Totally different. How young was Hall, when he signed, I didn’t agree with the criticism of hall at the time as it was obvious, that he was one for the future. Elanga may improve given enough time, but at his age and price, he was bought for now.
