I’ve read the ‘he’s one of us’, ‘give him time’ but fuck me he knows the score from where he’s come from and offered nothing.

Whole gallowgate was after him when he came on for not pressing and imo rightly so. Let’s close the attack down whether up against 4 defenders atleast press.

I fail to see anything he’s offered really, confidence may be gone but he can only help himself and get us back on side with some decent performances.

Never get him hounded out. Just expect a player who comes on with the amount of minutes to play to run his tits off.

Olusa does it well and gives his all

Howe was saying after the game he told Elanga to conserve energy and not press and close down.

Howe would say that to protect him, obvious from the fans they weren’t happy with that performance.

Don’t get me wrong, more than happy to give the lad a chance and I generally thing he will come good but he needs to be in it for himself also.

He didn't say it

I can’t believe he didn’t go and press 4 players on his own. While we sat with deep, rigid lines of 5 and 4 behind him. Who weren’t pressing at all.

At least make yourself look busy. Even if running about like a twat isn’t good for the team and you’ll get bypassed with ease.

Shite. Get rid.

Again, its the fact that he's struggling to do the absolute basics that's worrying for me. No idea where he is mentally, but I didn't expect him to be a world beater right away. I did expect him to have at least some basic football brain though.

Near the end of the game he just stopped when there was a decent chance (with his pace) that he may have got the ball before the city keeper. That's not good enough, you're struggling, not been on the pitch for long and you just stop when presented with possible opportunity.

I was surprised that with his supposed pace, he wasn't able to outsprint the city defender and fashion a chance at goal at the end of the game. IF he can't do that, what can he do.
Id sell him back to Forest for 45 mill in a heartbeat.

Been a terrible signing so far and appears a complete waste of money in a position we desperately needed to strengthen. I suppose if you compare Elanga with a Semenyo type player who will impact the game in every phase and score goals, that’s what we needed. It’ll be interesting to see how Howe manages this and hopefully turns it around because right now it only looks like him eventually being offloaded. That miss v Villa on the opening day almost feels critical now.

Yep. We definitely needed a headless chicken when everyone else was camped in our half and defending like a unit, really tight together.

The worrying thing is he just looks completely and utterly off it like his head has gone, confidence gone or some underlying issue.

Early in his NUFC career people on N-O were slagging Hall off for being shite and a waste of money.

Cogito ergo sum, it’s the same.

I swear Hall wasn't ever being slagged off

It was all about why aren't we playing him, even with so many injuries with it being an expensive loan.

I’m not going to pick on individual posters by quoting their historical comments here. But if you go to the Lewis Hall thread and look at comments from Nov / Dec 2023 you’ll see people saying he needs sending back to Chelsea, what’s the point in him being here, he’s not good enough, he hasn’t earned Howe’s trust, we could have got better for that amount of money etc etc

I’m not making that shit up man

I may be going blind, but not only has he been shite so far, he doesn't seem to have electric pace.  Jacob Muphy ls more athletic and looks to have much quicker acceleration to me.

When we had a break away and Murphy rightly retained possession as options weren’t there, watch it back and see the run Elanga made from deep :D Guy literally sprinted past the whole Man City side to get up there in support. He’s insanely quick.

He’s got the pace but worry’s are for me he’s not got much else on the shirt sample size I’ve seen so far. He was brought in as a starting right winger which is worrying. In hindsight maybe we should have looked abroad for that role?

He was ranked 3rd for assists in the Premier League last season and scored 6 goals in a side that set out to absorb pressure and hit teams on the break.

He’s got plenty of other attributes than just his 10.93 time over the 100m

It’s just not clicked for him here yet. And maybe it never will. But he’s a proven player in the top flight.

As a comparison, Isak’s been shite at Liverpool. But we know he’s not a shite player because he scored loads for us. To say he’s a shite player is just ridiculous. He’s just playing shite. And long may it last.

He’s only started back to back games once with a striker when he’s been RW this season, so I’m happy to give him plenty of time. That was Forest H and Union A before Oct internationals. Then started Brighton A after that, hooked at HT and that’s been it.

Hard to build up much momentum when you are coming off bench in games where either the team has been playing terribly for 60+ mins or it’s final 15 and team is sat deep to defend a lead.

Playing 38% of available prem minutes when being available this whole time isn’t ideal for a £55m attacking signing.
