CallumG6
Glad someone brought Kelly up! The amount of times he had the ball in a decent position at LB only to turn and go the other way and when he did knock it forward it was way over hit, understandable collective groans in the Milburn. He did look more comfortable at CB mind.
Jonas
He's not been remotely impressive mind, even as a fill in where I'm not expecting much.
AyeDubbleYoo
Nice to see my man Omar Bugiel as well, used to watch him regularly for Bromley. Only name I recognised on the Wimbledon team.
toontownman
Missed the game, watched the first highlights video I searched for on YouTube. Thought a mackem had edited the worst parts of the match together as a joke. Turns out that was the game. Yikes. At least we made it through. Our creativity when plan A doesn't work needs some work. For the most part Plan A doesn't work out because their isn't enough creativity lol

Good result against a Manchester club at the weekend, exepct a nice fluid hefty win of a showing against weaker opponents in the league cup midweek, few changes and a complete damp squib of an outing, penalty, 1-0 win. Doesn't have to mean anything but still a come down. Yes! I thought this exact thing tonight. I remember the Oldham keeper shitting himself because he thought it was going to be 15-0 before the game. We obviously just lost shearer to injury (some things never change)

Assuming Schär was just doing his usual and not injured you couldn’t really ask for more. Not a single bead of sweat was shed and we’ll all have forgotten about this in a couple of months. Schär the best player on the field by an absolute mile and everyone else was on a play safe mantra bar Will the Pest. This was a chance for some players to show what they are about and they couldn't even shine against League Two opposition.

Pancrate1892
Nice to see miggy has been working on his right foot in training. I'm grateful he won the pen but fuck me.....he's capable of making dangerous situations less dangerous by running away from them At least 2 first time cut backs should have went in and Gordon's cross is likely a chance if he opens his body up and uses the right instead of that fuckin stab shite
SteV
Were Wimbledon the most limited team offensively to play at SJP in recent memory? No shot of any description until the 95th minute, and even their long throws and free kicks were shite. Credit to them for the defensive commitment and resilience, but I can’t recall a team who appeared less likely to score.
Cf
We did what we needed to do and we are through. I'd have expected a bit more though. They were clearly there with no intention to win and just minimise the damage. But PL teams will do this too and this was a good chance to show we could beat the park the bus tactics and I didn't see anything to suggest we could against L2 opposition never mind PL. Actually I would be a bit disappointed if I was a Wimbledon fan. They didn’t rattle us or threaten us at any point in the game. They could’ve got to pens I suppose. Pancrate1892
When a team sits with 10 men behind the ball in such a low block, I don't know why teams bother playing inverted wingers. You can't get in behind them...and you can't open anything up coming inside as it's too congested. You can't shoot either, as there's no space to line up a shot, or it just gets blocked. Surely the best way is to hoy in cross after cross? I don't think Barnes or miggy put more than 1 cross in each tonight.

Conjo
Probably just me overthinking and making things up for myself to explain the performance, but it seemed like quite a few players didn't play to the best of their ability in fear of picking up an injury. Noticed in particular Tino, Barnes and Gordon getting visibly angry and frustrated when they were tackled and felt some initial pain due to impact, as if they were terrified of picking up/wasting an injury on AFC Wimbledon. The performance felt a bit like players not wanting to take risks in fear of getting ruled out against more "worthy" opposition. Realize this impression is probably influenced by our Man City performance vs. rest of the season up until this point.

TRon
This game shows how important it is to have good footballers all over the pitch. When you have 11 men parking the bus, you don't really want defenders who can't bring the ball out and just waste time passing it between themselves in front of empty space. We looked much better once Hall came on and Tino could get back onto the right. Also putting Kelly into a CB position instead of Krafth didn't hurt from an offensive POV. Tbf that's the right way to do it, obviously the reserves should be busting a gut, but I wouldn't want Barnes/Willock/Joelinton pressing Wimbledon all game. If we weren't 1 up I would have expected more effort the last 30 minutes. Boring game but no complaints about how we approached it. Maybe someone like Trevan Sanusi would be a good option against sides like these.
