Newcastle United 1-2 Fulham (01/02/25)

Whichever way it’s dressed up losing at home to Bournemouth and Fulham in consecutive weeks (with no midweek game) for a team with European aspirations isn’t a good look.

This Arsenal game is fucking massive for our season.

I don’t agree. We had decent options on our bench. For better or for worse, Eddie trusts his XI even if they are evidently struggling out there.

What options do we have to actually change and influence a game? Really?

We've got squad depth there to bring people in if there's an injury at the back or rest legs on the closing minutes, but nothing to inject pace or something different into the outcome.

It's a very poorly balanced squad now unfortunately - and that comes down mainly to the fact attacking players cost money we're not allowed to spend.

Imagine this squad with European football.

If we were balancing Europa League this season, I dread to think what our injury situation would be again. We would probably be sitting around 8-9th in league right now. If PSR is going to fuck us up again this summer, missing Europa League on Conf League once more might be for the best.

That's really gonna dent our champions league hopes considering our next set of fixtures, very poor performance and very poor result, I often look at other prem teams whether that be teams in the top 6 or teams in mid table and so wonder why they look so much more comfortable than us on the ball and in possession, really starting to irk me.

So frustrating, again people fucking off home with 5 mins to go. Not enough supporters in the ground at the moment

Could have done with less there today after hearing so much moaning and groaning all afternoon.

That's why I never got excited during that run of wins. Yes it was nice but it was unsustainable. We don't have the depth and as soon as other teams work us out, out weaknesses are badly exposed.

There's going to be plenty more games like this at home now where we don't have the legs and don't have the personal to change it.

don't think the subs were the issue today at all really. We were set up badly from the start. Wingers were defending as second full backs so we couldn't press and that never really changed. Just forced us to defend deep all game and allowed Fulham easy possession.

Can't remember the last match that's pissed me off as much as that. That was more than just a poor performance, our midfield was back to being ridiculously open again, with Joelinton and Bruno putting in shockers and us surrendering possession over and over again. The ref was pathetic and didn't help but we were still awful and deserved nothing.

Dubruvka: 6

Livramento: 6

Schär: 4.5

Burn: 5

Hall: 5.5

Tonali: 5

Bruno: 4.5

Joelinton: 4.5

Murphy: 6

Isak: 6

Gordon: 6

Thought our defence were abysmal today.

Schar yards off the pace, big dan is too predictable and both backs were pretty poor.

Bruno and Joe are shagged, looked well off it.

Isak, Gordon and murphy were pretty decent, tonali was off.

We need to refresh this squad, we just don't have players to come in and list the team.

JADED, BURN'T OUT OR SIMILAR....

How would you have set us up ?

That was awful to watch. I knew one goal was never going to be enough. The second the equaliser went in I feared the worst.

We'll struggle to get any European football, never mind Champions league with such inconsistency.

Fuck all these financial fair play rules.

Just to be clear - it’s stacked against us with PSR and RPT. But we’ve been utterly abject today at home again. We still have good players, we still have a good manager. But these types of performances are so fucking frustrating.

We looked flat from the off today, pissing around with ball giving it away. To me we stood off them and played too low from the get go. And again we were too reactive - it was clear as day from min 46 what would happen. It’s pissing me off something rotten tbh.
