( I was delighted with the Group of Death Champions League group.) Howe will have the team up for it. They're always up for the big names. It's the mid-table sides that are trouble. Just don’t understand this way of thinking. Would happily play Jarra Blind School in a final, just let us win something ffs.

On the upside at least, if they win the league as well, the UEFA Conference coming our way by default wouldn't be so bad... unless we miraculously manage a Champions League spot. The other thing is that I think I'd feel less aggrieved at losing to the current Liverpool team in the final, than a slip up against Spurs, so all in all, if we look at it negatively and assume we'll lose, there's at least 'some' silver linings there. ... that said, I'd much rather we gubbed the bin dipping, thieving gypo bastards though Don't want to piss on your chips but it no longer works that way. The Conference League spot drops into the league if the League Cup winners qualify for CL/EL through league.

League Cup runners-up never got a European place - FA Cup runners-up did in certain circumstances.

I actually think the opposite - we always beat Spurs so in a one-off final I bet they'd probably win Which is why with Liverpool we never beat them in the league, so as a one-off, we defo have more of a chance

We never beat Liverpool, they never really lose finals. Plus they're arguably the best side in Europe this season. It feels inevitable.

Can tell by the post match interviews last night that we aren’t just happy to be making an appearance at Wembley this time. Howe will make sure we have an plan also. He will have been hungry on a personal level to put right the last visit there and will have us prepared tactically, see last night. The big European aways, the previous cup final, the quarter final at Chelsea last season will all stand us in good stead of playing massive games away from SJP. Will Liverpool be as “up for it” as we are? They’re not unbearable, we nearly done them at SJP. We owe the cunts big time as well, as I said on another thread. Man United beat City in the FA Cup final last season. We are a much, much better side than them, and Liverpool are no better than what Man City were then. Would much rather be playing Spurs but we have a very real chance of silverware here. Absolutely. Emotions were running ridiculously high last time out, different ball game all together this year
Yorkie
I can't tell if I'm happy or sad that it's a Klopp-less Liverpool. Massive occasion. I share everyone else's vibe that something feels different this time. Last time we had no experience but that's exactly what we gained, now it's time to avail of it. Impossible to call this far off but my optimistic punt is that we'll win on penalties. Imagine that.

Mattoon
In 2023 we didn't have Isak, in 2023 we didn't have Gordon, in 2023 we didn't have Tonali, the spine of this side walks into any team, Botman, Tonali, Bruno, Gordon, Isak are all match winners. We're not the same team as the last 3 finals, we've grown, we've learned some harsh lessons, we've got the experience and the scars to show for it, we've got some big game players now. We owe Liverpool, it's time to cash in.
AJ9
I am not optimistic tbh. I just don’t see us stopping their big occasion players. However, I think the mentality is different for me. I don’t feel as crazily emotional as 2023. This feels more routine. I was half expecting a win in 2023, so the hope killed me. This time, I think we will put a shift in, but unfortunately I expect a loss, so anything else is a bonus. Apologies for the negativity. I am excited, but I foresee a loss more than I did in 2023. Hope I’m wrong. Edited 17 hours ago by AJ9

Skeletor
I guess we are technically the unbeaten team in this competition. If this rubbish Spurs team could beat them in the first leg then we could beat them in a one-off game. But I still doubt it. Liverpool always turn it on for the big occasions. Howe needs to see what they're about. I have every confidence Howe will suss them out. Plus we need to bring Sanusi on at 85 mins to snap fuck out of Salah. Then sign for us in six years time(probably needs to fit in a ballon d’or or two in between) and seal his bona fide Geordie legend status by returning as a manager in 2043. Perhaps needs to have a Newcastle supporting father/uncle and grandparents from the North East.
Super Duper Branko Strupar
We're going in to this with a greatly improved 11, but against a better opponent. We should have beaten them on occasions we haven't. Just got to make sure we're professional in the approach and dont give them an inch. Tonali to be the hero.
