Manchester City 4-0 Newcastle United - 15/02/2025

Pep was really worried about this game and you could see by his actions on the touchline early on with his over-the-top encouragement/praise towards his defenders. The last thing they needed was to face a decently-rested NUFC side that went full-throttle at them and pressed them off the park. And we’ve turned up to park the bus and offer nothing going forward with Murphy at RB and Trippier at CB. Absolutely baffling how we’ve set up here. They’ve been so bad at the back for the past few months, so vulnerable, and we’ve rocked up and allowed them to run us ragged without laying a glove on them.

The majority of our fan base are away with the faries when it comes to what our real status is.

Everyone seems to think we're a top four/ five side, yes we'll float about there all season fluctuating positions, the reality is we're still top eight, we still have a fair few weak players that over acheive most games, but when it comes to crucial moments they're none existent.

We need a really good summer to make this side competitive in a top four.

I think it's more the effort levels that people are annoyed with today than anything related to ability, to be honest. We are clearly going through the motions. No pressure on the ball, no intensity, no aggression.

Those three things have given this city team issues time and time again this season.

Willock is another that is lauded for what he brings going forward, when he's on it.
威洛克是另一个被称赞为他所带来的前进,当他在它。

Defensively against capable teams, he really doesn't have any presence whatsoever.
在对阵有能力的球队的防守中,他真的没有任何表现。

We would have been far better off going with the three at the back we used against Arsenal and leaving him on the bench.
如果我们在对阵阿森纳的比赛中使用三后卫,让他坐在替补席上,我们会更好。

However, Willock often makes mistakes in passing and has difficulty engaging in physical confrontation and intercepting steals, making him a disaster in midfield. The forward speed of Gordon and Hall on the left is already sufficient.I think the key to the summer transfer window is to get rid of Willock and Trippier, and replace them with physically fit and energetic young talents.

Lets face it, their players are superior in every position.......

Dan Burn the only one with credit.

Dan burn was the one who kept Marmoush onside for the second. Very bad positioning

What is it with these half arsed performances this year?

It's happening more regularly if you don't put in the work you will get pulled apart.

I feel sometimes it's a bit of an over comfortability of not overconfidence that we can find our way back into a game because we have in the past. A counter will come eventually and we create chances.

Think is if we could convert our chances more consistently the previous year and a half we would have won a trophy. We are inconsistent when it counts the most.

My prediction in the pre-match thread…

Quote

This is the sort of game we’ve got right up for this season and really played at our best.

3-0 City.

We’ve been bollocks. Another game where we’re far too passive and we get arse rodded.

We will come out all guns blazing 2nd half. It'll finish in a 3-2 defeat.

I just want us to test this defence - they conceded but we've not created a thing.  Just allowed City to come at us - we always, I mean always lose when we allow teams to do that.  Nevermind City. We have always been at our best when we have got at teams, pressed, harassed, attacked but there has been none of that.

First was a gift, second looked borderline offside (show me some lines!), but was still poor defending from Trippier again. Third looked like we'd given up. The guy was in acres.

Second was miles on because of Burn. Murphy might've been playing him on as well, tbf, but it would've been a much tighter call.
