worried we wont win another game till after the carabou cup final.

maybe brighton in the fa cup.

Sick of hearing this being brought up tbh. For one thing, the Carabao Cup will not have as much meaning for a lot of our foreign players that it might have for the locals. For another, it's a month off yet, I could understand if it was next week.

Our form is fluctuating because when we press it has to be 100% on, otherwise we get caught too far up the pitch and our defence comes under pressure. One mistake and it's a goal conceded. There's no margin for error so we really do need to be on it.

Its not exclusively our press. We have too many players who if they aren’t at 100% in terms of performance level just aren’t good enough to play for a side that wins most weeks.

That's when you have to learn to win ugly. There's no easy answer, I understand Howe wants to drill a certain way of playing, and I'm on board. But the amount of times it's failed and we've ended up getting well beat is a concern. The proof's in the pudding though, so I guess we'll see how it all shakes out at the end of the season.

They'll want to win it, they won't be any more desperate than any other player at Newcastle. I think we need to put this idea that they are protecting themselves for a cup final to one side. It's still a month away, no one will even be thinking about that yet.

Agree. Not bying that "excuse" at all. We have seen that City performance ten times before without any final on the horizon.

Pretty much as simple as winning if we want a realistic chance of champions league next season , we should win really I still have no idea how these are 3rd but it all depends on our attitude, last week aside we do tend to turn up in these sort of games .

I’ve seen Botman is a doubt, anyone else heard anything?

Not ITK or anything. But based on the last comments from Howe and what journos have been saying. I don’t think he’ll be playing.

Purely reading between the lines.

I got tickets in the 1892 bar for this, which I've never done. Does anyone know anything about it as can't seem to see anything about it on the site.

The atmosphere is rank, full of either whinging old cunts or cunts that are barely interested in the game.

ENJOY THE GAME

Massive game this, season defining in the league and will go some way to answering whether this team is simply not good enough, or it’s a motivation issue with some of our players.

Bit dramatic. We've got a decent run of fixtures coming up after Liverpool in the league. We were very good at forest away as well

I don't think it's a motivation issue, I just think some teams we come up against have the style and a manager clever enough to hurt us if we don't get it right. Playing the high press leaves less margin for error, we just have to make sure we don't take our eye off the ball on Sunday, and we should be ok.

You could say we should never take our eye off the ball, but when you are playing the same players week in week out, there is always more chance some of them will go off the boil.

I think we've lost 3 out of our last 4 in the league so it's not that dramatic. Agree that Forest is a good game to get us back on track though.

Forest poor in 2 of the last 3.

We've been poor in 3 of the last 4.

Has a feel of a must not lose for both.

Early Sunday afternoon KO.

Has cagey affair written all over it. Can't see there being much in it.

6-1
