I don’t think Howe holds players back because he thinks that is how you do it - you’re in when you’re ready.  If you come in ready, then you start.

But that's my point with Hall, he didn't come in because he was suddenly ready after months on training ground. Didn't go from one week not there, and next he's good to go. Botman ACL, Burn LCB, Trippier injury, Lascelles ACL, Krafth on ahead of him, Tino injury, then against Everton he had to start LB and rest is history.

This season, Isak and Murphy are playing when available because it's worked. But there's a clear reluctance to change it up unless it's a seasoned pro, and only injuries will force that change. It's not dissimilar to some other clubs, like Hujsen only got his break because of Sensei injury. But if we're to sign more young players as a new route into the market, we need to play them early on more often. Which may come down to club backing Howe verbally behind closed doors, that if results dip it's fine, because that will happen with young players but he's the right coach to improve them long term and as a result, club moves forward.

Yeah Hall is a comfortable B at the minute but he's only going to get better and I think he will be an A one day . He's a bigger miss than Gordon or Botman for the cup final which shows how important he has become .

I think he's great, but I also think we're (understandably) getting a little bit ahead of ourselves with him. For me at the moment he's a C+/B- and very much a work in progress - for me he's still a step below Jose Enrique and Beresford who'd I'd say were solid B/B+s - but I'm still very excited about the player he can become.

For the cup final, it may be a silver lining that he's not involved as Salah seems to have his number and also the ability to foul him repeatedly without any repercussions.

If Trippier is fit, Tino can fill in at LB but also Targett returning to fitness is a big plus as he's always been underrated.

Have him down as a B right now, his progression has been really remarkable. You only have to look at how gutted we are that he's out for the season - he'll be England's left back and hopefully ours for a long time.

Big B for me. Developing really well and he's going to get even better, injuries permitting, as he truly learns the position, that comes with experience. Could well become an exceptional LB in the next few years

I love Hall and always knew he would prove to be a class signing but even I've been surprised how quickly he's reached such a high level

Despite the above there's not a chance he's an A, that's people thinking with their hearts rather than their heads

C is also feels a bit low for him as he's more than just solid so it's actually a comfortable and easy B

If he keeps progressing as he has this season he's got the potential to be England's and the Premier League's best LB. Doesn't seem to be an abundance of great fullbacks around at the minute, so lucky to have him and Tino. Doesn't seem like 2 minutes ago plenty were wetting the bed about spending £60m+ on them.

Similar thoughts. Will he gain a yard of pace as he gets older? Not convinced he will with his build so his ceiling is B at LB. Still would like to see him further up the pitch TBH.
