Pretty sure people would give BDB a C instead of an A like 2-3 weeks ago. Maybe a few B's, but not many. Especially if age really is a factor, but apparently that only applies to certain players and not others.

 

As for Bruno, I think the player is a B+, but I'll give him an A since I think he's so important for the team spirit, togetherness and relationships withing the squad. I think he also really helps new players to settle in. I think he has been a very important figure when it comes to Tonali for instance.

If Tonali is an A, so is Bruno. Genuinely think he could play for any team, and he also has that X factor in his enthusiasm and attitude. One of my favourite players ever to pull on the shirt and you really wouldn't want to be playing against him. So, A then.

Toni Kroos couldn’t run for the last 8 years of his career either. And put in half the graft.  
 

Bruno isn’t as good as Kroos but you can be world class and have deficiencies in your game.  
 

I think Tonali’s sometimes carelessness on the ball is a bigger weakness. If Tonali is an A Bruno is a A for me.

I genuinely think you could stick him in a Real, Man City, Bayern team and he'd fit perfectly in. He's an A.

I'd love to see this same exercise done for some other teams around us, to see where the squads sit in terms of numbers of each rating. Would be a very interesting brain and statistics exercise.

I don't follow any other teams closely enough to do that. I just wait to hear what Kaka and TCD have to say about players and use their judgement

Said it all along. For a long while his  ‘average to poor ’ games were like a 6 or 7/10. But he would get called out for them and people would make out like he’d been shit. 
 

Numerous times I said he’d played badly. Then I’d watch the highlights and look at the numbers and he’d actually played pretty well. You just realise on the day, that he’d dropped a bit below the ridiculously high standards he set early on.

Well ditto, but the hive mind of the forum might give us a decent view of where we see our competitors?

It could be that actually even though we've ranked our squad as reasonably low, and we look at it on the face of it as being a squad in need or refresh, the clubs around us may be ranked similarly and we're not an outlier.

I don’t recall Bruno having such kinda game recently. He now plays like a B2B with excellent coverage, and tends to “battle fiercely” against opponents. 
 

you can say he “adapted” to the EPL. I just ain’t sure it’s a good or bad thing.

I've had the same thought, but don't you think we were just not used to having a player like him at all back then? If Bruno went to Everton now, or some team like that, he would probably be their best player by far, and look like a maestro compared to the rest of the team. I think we've just gotten used to having players who can do stuff that most of our Ashley players in later years could only dream of.

It's hard not to give him an A after the weekend but I think it's B+ for Bruno, par with Tonali imo. He needs to find more consistency to be an A. He's had too many poor games this and last season to be put in the same bracket as Isak.

It's because of his lack of pace, so defensively that can see him caught out on occasions. But given what he brings to the table in terms of tempo, control and aggression, it's a small factor, because those other skills are off the charts. He really can dictate a game if everyone plays to his level.

A - Top talent. Think we will have a tough decision to make on him next summer though, and I’m firmly in mindset of let’s enjoy one more great season of him and cash in. 
 

He’d be 28 going on 29 with two years left. Which is sell, or give a 5 year deal for wages circa £250k which is massive, making him a requirement to be starter for majority of that time into his 30s.

 

Pace doesn’t make up his game, but do believe when that yard does drop it’ll limit him further, result in more desperate challenges and probably injuries becoming frequent for him.
 

We’re in stage of still moving forward and he’s parting gift IMO is getting top money and enabling us to evolve and continue spending.
