They are a smallish club punching above their weight and it's a shocking journey with the trains being fucked between Newcastle and York. Would that have stopped our fans or the mackems if the roles had been reversed? “Plucky underdogs” also complicit in fucking us and any other aspirational or newly promoted club over with FFP/PSR cucking of the Sinister 6, so have little love for either of them. Lotus Posted yesterday at 18:30 Share Posted yesterday at 18:30 Thought Miley was a complete non event if I’m being honest. There's a pattern to it, which is probably more concerning than the odd random loss now and again which will happen to all but the very top teams. Lose next Monday and you wonder if Fulham and West Ham are joining the list.
St1pe Posted yesterday at 18:41 Share Posted yesterday at 18:41 Of all the ups and downs we’ve had in the last two seasons under Howe this one has got me feeling canny flat. It’s definitely more than post-game feeling but more the trajectory we’re on coming towards this final. The Gordon sending off, Botman still not back, Hall injury, Isak sort of fit but we all know what’s coming. Feel like that Mackem wife from Netflix… when’s it gonna be our turn. Were it not for Gordon - who I really pictured having a big game in the final - I hadn't felt any different. It's one game on neutral ground, and we'll have learned from the last trip to Wembley. I still believe we can do it and am really looking forward to it. It's wonderful that we've given ourselves this opportunity again. Gordon thing isn't quite Pope all over again, because we have options, but it's a pisser and above all I'm gutted for the lad himself. Felt like a bit of a destiny thing and he made a huge contribution in the semi, too. Fucking Brighton.

Think he is better when he plays in the deeper role and gets on the ball more. But obviously not going to when Tonali is on the pitch. Such a weird position the wide CM for us. Tonali looked a bit lost there and all. Seems hard to get too involved or have a big impact with the ball too often. Even Bruno is less involved there. Whilst also being more involved in the right areas, if that makes sense?

TBPH, I’ve not enjoyed this season at all. Even most of the games we’ve got points in I’ve found labourious to watch at the best of times. Whether that’s being spoiled or not I don’t know but I find watching us a chore these days. The entire club from playing staff to fans need a huge refresh in the summer. Wolfcastle Posted yesterday at 19:28 Share Posted yesterday at 19:28 Incredibly the Trelford Mills game is a highlight for us against these in the cup. At least it was exciting.

Gallowgate Toon Posted yesterday at 19:43 Share Posted yesterday at 19:43 This one is going to sting for a few days. I just hate how soft we particularly are against these sides at the minute. They should be coming here knowing that at the very least they're going to be in for an awful time. If we aren't winning a game then they'll be struggling to get a sniff and that they'll have to work really fucking hard to eke those chances out. Getting outshot & out-tackled repeatedly at home just isn't good enough. This is one of the balances that the hierarchy needs to figure out going forward. We need better technical footballers, yes, but we need proper mentality to go along with it still.
alexf Posted yesterday at 19:46 Share Posted yesterday at 19:46 Couldn't have gone much worse this really. Out the cup, players having to go 120 minutes for no reward. Isak half fit and possibly injured again, Hall pregame news, Gordon being an absolute weapon and losing his cool at the worst possible moment in our season. The one game feels like such a weighted impact. Effectively ended two chances at trophies and probably has a knock on effect for our league form now also. I'm choosing to blame it all on Gordon for now because it kind of is his fault. Apart from all that, it was absolutely criminal how often we gifted chances and gave the ball away in dangerous areas. We really aren't a great side minus Isak.

I know what you mean , two seasons ago was brilliant the way we pressed and ran to the atmosphere around the club and in the stands . It was even like that last season at times certainly before Christmas anyway. Since the summer it just feels flat, for whatever reason we now feel just so slow and laboured and even on that winning run we were hardly blowing teams away, it was more of a grind. The atmosphere at the ground is as bad as it has been for years, even under Ashley the crowd were sometimes up for it and was a bit of a siege mentality. As you say maybe we have been spoilt but certainly a refresh is needed . Edited yesterday at 19:49 by Geogaddi

Ashley17
As stupid as it sounds, if you take out those 9 wins in a row it has been a fucking infuriating season. Probably made worse by how good we were in most of those 9 games and how ragtag we have looked in most others.

TBH, I’ve also enjoyed the away games I’ve been at this season more than the homes and not just because of the results. Something just isn’t right atm.
