God bless her ,me Dads birthday was yesterday! I was brought up in the West End ,Joe Harvey lived on the West Road and Albert Bennett lived on Westacres Crescent just up the road from me the training ground was  a few hundred yards away

Mam and loads of relations lived at Bilbrough Gardens, Dorcas Ave, Juliet St and a few others. I played a few games at the old training ground. Hope you celebrated your Dad’s birthday and the win.

Did anyone capture our fans singing seventeen going under to the players?  Or seen a vid of it.  Was fucking class with the Ohhhh a wooooaah oh oaaah. :D

Was class that. More people singing along to that than actual newcastle songs like. Not really well versed in his songs but loved it still

Surely we can make a song about a player to the tune

Belter. :D

Reason I asked is my mate Owain messaged seeing if I'd captured it (Sams manager) :D

I seen he was tagged in ketch's story wearing the asics waistcoat purchased off me last week! I still have the blue one at least.

I was far too scared to praise him

But I'll praise Dan Burn now

That's the thing with this forum

It remains unhinged at times.

This video is gold, we managed it so well.

Sandro sending Van Dijk tumbling and Willock taking it to the corner was perfect.

Watching it back again and the holding of the ball in the corner during the closing stages by Wilson, Willock, Sandro, Joelinton and others was a fantastic demonstration of a lost art that Shearer will have been proud as punch of. Absolutely class.

Met up with a good mate of mine after who's a Liverpool fan.  He said we did a really good job of seeing it out at the end in the corner and was almost laughing in the pub.  As some of their fans were complaining about it as a tactic  ignoring the fact every team in the world would try the same.

Is the full match available to watch anywhere on demand? Can only find highlights and forgot to record it.

The Club have just put it on the official site.

At the end of the day to some it is only the league cup. But for us, it’s whatever we want it to be. This is a club that has had failure ingrained in its dna in the modern era. People cannot understand what it’s like to have this type of success. It’s ours not theirs.

There's only really Man City and (to a far lesser extent) Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal & Man Utd that it's "only the League Cup". Any other club in the league it's absolutely massive and their fans are talking absolute shite.

TBH I thought it would feel like a second class trophy even if we won it. But I was a massive fool.

Probably beating all the good teams helped as well

Honestly why are people so bothered about what other fans think?  I genuinely don't get it, fucking enjoy it man.

Only downside for me is that we won it very, very comfortably. I don't want to be picky but I really wish we could have had one massively controversial decision go our way just to get them lot absolutely outright seething and crying for injustice and making petitions to ban the ref from officiating them ever again.

That's all I ask, nothing much.

The opposite for me, I would’ve hated anyone to have a reason to downplay the win. Dominating and beating them well was perfect.

I would’ve took this pre match but now we’ve won comfortably I’m delighted. People having to trot out the Saudi stuff for the first time in ages or refer to the tournement as Micky mouse to discredit us, as there’s nothing else. We beat the 4 best performing teams in the country fairly and squarely.

[emoji38] Don't get me wrong there's nothing sweeter than comfortably outplaying those Scouse bastards at Wembley, but there is a tiny, tiny little bit of me that just wishes they had something to cry victim about. I hate them.

They are quite good at that most of the time anyway.

Haven’t posted since the game… wanted to collect my thoughts into something relatively coherent.

I was there with my 10 year-old lad and a couple of friends, and my wife and 7 year-old daughter had tickets with their friends a few blocks across.

All week leading up to the game I had pretty much no confidence. All I wanted to see was commitment, and win or lose, to have no regrets. But I only gave us maybe a 10% chance. So I was relatively emotionless.

Add into that, a bunch of my Liverpool supporting mates were saying how little the League Cup meant to them, and couldn’t quite grasp why it would mean much to me / NUFC fans, which had a dampening effect on the build up.

But walking into the ground, taking in the atmosphere as it built, something changed. Watching our fans rise to the occasion pre-match… and then watching the first 10 minutes unfold… I turned to one of my mates and said “we’re going to do this”. It just felt like the players were never going to allow Liverpool to win.

And after that… it was just a stream of incredible memories made between me and my lad and friends, and wife and daughter.

Dan Burn 1-0… the crowd went absolutely wild, I looked down at my boy and he was crying full blown tears of joy… I picked him up, hugged him with all my heart, and from that point onwards I was an emotional wreck.

I was getting texts from my little girl a few blocks along, beaming with joy.

Isak 2-0… Tears, singing, hugging strangers, more exited 7-year old texts…

2-1… absolutely shitting it… and then…

The final whistle… I didn’t hear it… I just saw players, wearing our shirts, do “that” run… the run I’ve never seen our players do before… the “winners” run…

Me and my lad and mates burst into tears, grabbed each other and clinged on as the stadium erupted… catching only tiny glimpses of the scenes on the pitch. In that moment, my 40 years of hurt vanished, and all that was left was pure joy… pure pride… pure love…

… And a lifetime of memories with my kids, wife and friends.

That’s what it meant!

Wonderful stuff, just wonderful.

Tears in my eyes reading this (honestly)

I’m so chuffed for you all who got to experience this moment.

Having seen (attending three of the finals in person) us lose all the other finals I was not confident at all.

I was too nervous and apprehensive to watch it, so I did a likely lads until the final minute when I was told to safely put it on the tv.

(superstition made me think I would jinx us again if I watched) daft I know.

Out the country on the 29th but I will be there with everyone in spirit and I know now I will see this again!

This is a new beginning for us all!

😀😁
