Some off the stuff that’s emerging about West Ham’s finances (which tbf, West Ham fans seem to have known for a while) is pretty alarming.

I think relegation might actually be more damaging for them than it would be for Spurs.

Relegation would barely be a blip on their finances for Spurs compared to West Ham.

It’d be a bigger drop in revenue, but that drop would seemingly be nowhere near as consequential for Spurs as it would West Ham.

Depending on how you feel about West Ham, its why, save for being funny, West Ham going down would be much "better" as they wont be coming straight back up and could potentially drop again as financially theyre absolutely fucked. Could be a fair while before theyre in the Premier League again.

With Spurs itd be hilarious, but realistically they'll walk the Championship and be back up the season after next as if it never happened, probably back around the top 10.

Personally I dont mind West Ham, so if they are in as much trouble financially as it looks, itd be a shame for them.

Do we think this thread for 26-27 will be busy?
Without significant changes in the squad this summer I can definitely see us struggling, despite playing less games.

Wonder what the odds are for bottom 3 and Eddie sacked by Christmas?

Any links? Would love to read

It’s a glass half full vs glass half empty type of debate. 9 points more and we’re 6th and possibly qualifying for the Champions League this season, yet 9 points less and we’re in the relegation zone.

Even just replacing the keeper in the summer gets us a handful more points. So I don’t think it’s that doom and gloom and we’re not as far away from getting back in Champions League as it can feel.

That said, I don’t think Howe will be our manager come Christmas as the pressure to make a fast start to the season will be immense.

There was also an article I read, but exactly where escapes me for the minute. Will try and dig it out later.

Thanks for sharing these, the one with Winter and Purslow was very good, so much so I went back and I'm currently listening to the one they did on us.

I have to admit, Purslow surprised me, he's on the money more so than winter.

Yep, I think @LFEE has highlighted their pod before, it’s excellent.

Purslow gives really good insight that you don’t generally get elsewhere, and to be fair to Winter, he often takes a back seat and lets him do the majority of the talking.

There’s one with the Coventry chairman that they did recently that I found very good. Can’t quite make my mind up about him yet (possibly being very unfair given what’s been achieved), but nonetheless, some of the stuff discussed was really interesting.

Aye going to subscribe and listen to it more. it's popped on my feed before but I kind of disregarded it due to Purslows Liverpool connections.

That being said, Purslow seems to rate everyone and anyone and was giving me Ornstein vibes towards the end of our own

Aye, he never slags anyone, but I guess it’s not that that kind of pod (which makes a change from a lot of other content that appears to be solely about slagging players/managers/owners…).

What I find most interesting is that he’s able to give an insight into why clubs take certain decisions, which from the outside seem wrong/odd, but once he’s explained, you understand a bit, even if you still don’t necessarily agree.

Aye, I genuinely don’t wish for any fan to lose their club, no fan deserves that, except for Liverpool fans, they deserve it.

Yeah I need to continue listening, I want to hear some examples of where I found things odd but he explains.

Dont expect him or want him to slag anyone just don't want to hear everyone spoken about it glowing terms haha.

Anyways thanks again for sharing, well worth the listen

Steered well clear of all of this for obvious reasons. At the time the first vid was made West Ham were two points above us and out of the relegation zone.

I think they are a whole new level of fucked. Used to play football with a few West Ham fans on Stepney Green. I was in the US when Upton Park was sold and so I missed their take on it all, but every West Ham fan I know says they felt empty, like a part of them had been lost. I had presumed they made a tidy profit on it but a Google suggests they made £8.3M, which seems absolutely pitiful.

17 seems to be the number of the season. 17 defeats, only 17 away goals (fewest since the 2015-16 relegation season) and also only 17 away points, compared to 28 last season.

The defeats thing reminds me of that stat in 21/22 about how a team that hadn't won X amount of its opening games had never stayed up, but that ignored that we'd had a fair few draws and more points than plenty of other teams who'd stayed up.

This season it's similar in that we've hardly drawn, so the amount of defeats looks bad and is bad, but at the same time because we've hardly drawn we've also won more or equalled the wins of the teams from 6th down to 10th.

It's even worse when all the draws are defeats too.
