I don't normally watch highlight videos of players we haven't signed, but I couldn't resist. He looks shit hot. Two footed finisher and he can spot a pass as well. Maybe he just doesn't press relentlessly so he doesn't suit Howe's gameplan.

I reckon our best presser was Miggy, who was relentless, but we've not missed him.

I suspect it might be a bigger issue if we changed our third midfielder to a pure AM/#10 (Maddison, Wirtz etc.) type.

Striker has always been what's helped us. Even in the days of Wood, whilst not scoring, there was no denying just having a physical presence up there that knew how to play the role, press and bring others in elevated us.

 

Can have a great defence and midfield, but if we don't have anyone competent leading the line, we're going to be so shit  We're not a side that can roll out some lightweight CAM/Winger up front and continue as normal.
