from Sky:

Brentford are considering a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Max Beier.

There has been no approach to Dortmund yet and he is one of several front players Brentford are looking at.

Beier is someone of long-term interest to the club. They tried to sign him last summer.

He signed for Dortmund instead and made 46 appearances, most of which were off the bench.

He was also left on the bench for Dortmund’s opening Bundesliga game against St Pauli.

Dortmund are getting closer to an agreement with Wolves for striker Fabio Silva and if they sign him, it may limit Beier’s game time further.

Brentford are in the market for someone who plays predominantly off the left-hand side to potentially replace Newcastle target Yoane Wissa.

They want a replacement secured before letting Wissa go.

Beier can play anywhere across the front line but has mostly been a centre-forward at Dortmund.

Brentford are willing sellers, they're entire business model is predicated on discovering gems and making a profit, much like Brighton. They have little interest in holding on to him, at 28, at his highest valuation.

Unfortunately for us, they're sensible in that they aren't going to jeopardise their season by selling without a replacement.

I'm confident that if they do manage to get a replacement we'll get him (assuming our interest is still there)

So are we going for Wissa & JSL or is just the first one we get a breakthru on.

if it’s both…..

I don't see why we couldn't get two in and a trade one away before next season. We got our money back on Chris Wood no? Big signing fee but low wages might get them through the door but prevent wages from rejecting any future moves.

We need to have a good season to attract any top "Isak replacement" you might actually want next season. The best way to do this is to have two functioning strikers this season and finish as high as we can.

I think the club thinking is the two would be Isak plus the Wilson replacement.

Probably the best case scenario from here is to overpay for Wissa (the excessive fee for an older player can be justified in lower risk / more immediate goals), slowly ease the traitor back in and make him earn his place back (he's our second striker now until proven otherwise), and then find our striker of the future in January/summer.

Fantastic result for Brentford away at Bournemouth tonight.

Bit of an experimentation with Schade and Carvalho upfront and an attacking midfielder just behind them in a 3-5-2 setup and it worked for them.

Won't hurt any Wissa pursuit.
