Theres many, many others but I said weeks ago he wouldnt be going to AFCON and everyone ignored me.

Journalists have been reporting for weeks that the player was hinting at not going...

Anyway, its nice to have a gloat but ultimately its fantastic news for us all.

Dear me. What a sad little life, STM.

No, just nice to be proven right... Lush Vlad.:pow:

I just wanted to shoehorn in that classic line. As I did find it amusing and a bit sad that you went back and quoted them all

I think I went full Switzerland and was neutral on it. Thought the club were trying to make it difficult for him to be selected. But you’re right. Hope, Downie and I think Edwards have said for a while he won’t be off to the AFCON.

I wouldn't normally but it was something at the time I thought "we will see" and made a note to revisit it.

It was something I was convinced of.

Anyway, its absolutely mint news.

Feel a little torn by this as I want our players to fulfil their international ambitions with us regardless if it’s a mid season tournament. You never know how regret can affect a player’s performance.

I didn’t say he wouldn’t, I said that the club couldn’t do anything about it

Might still just be a case of the injury taking longer than expected. If he started playing in november he would have probably been selected now. Some might say it was deliberate by the club, but wouldn't it be weird to tell Wissa that we're going to delay his recovery in order to avoid any chance of him going to AFCON? Peoples opinions were based on the first prognosis of him being back in november. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that anyone who predicted him to not go did it because they thought the injury would take longer to heal than what we had been told.

Exciting stuff this. I rate Wissa and wanted to see him in black and white.

Hope he can hit the ground running and prove his worth, which I believe he will albeit far later than expected due to that PCL injury.

Seems popular amongst in the dressing room already which is grand.
