I get the feeling he was told he needed to step up and more was expected, or he wouldn't play, and he's gone into a sulk.

And this has likely and rightfully pissed off the coaching staff.

Seems very plausible. Disappointing considering our outlay on him and his age. But we maybe could have guessed given the way he acted to get here.

Hopefully wrong though, and there’s a more sympathetic explanation to all this.

there’s an opportunity for him to play against Barca in the champions league, I think he’d regret, if his attitude got in the way of him taking part in such a game.

Yeah, hopefully there is a more plausible explanation, but I think it's really weird he's not even being brought on off the bench at the minute, despite the busy schedule. Then we also had that comment from Howe about him too.

I reckon if this was the case he wouldn't be in the match day squad though. Eddie wouldn't tolerate that around the other players on a match day

Think Eddie just said in post presser, that he was unwell. Bit of a bug going around the squad. Could have been Tonali though, not sure as you couldn't here the name.

Not buying that with Wissa

I'm not buying any rumours about an illness. Eddie all but said that the reason he isn't playing is because his performances have been shit.

I don't care how much he cost, how much he earns or what he did for Brentford last season, he hasn't earned the right to play for this team, Osula and Gordon deserve his minutes.

If he's in a huff about it then it just compounds the fact that this has been an abomination of a transfer

I really wish he didn’t go on strike and we didn’t pursue him all summer. He’s been the worst signing by far.

I get that he was unlucky with the knee injury. But from how buzzing he seemed to be here and some early promise. He has gradually been getting worse.

Now he has been challenged by Howe publicly and can’t get minutes. When you would think he would be a great option to start here and there. Or give us 20-30 minutes off the bench and some fresh legs.

How is a £55m ‘prem proven’ forward. Our 4th choice striker FFS?!

Was really excited to see how he did here and thought he’d be a great fit. Oh how wrong I was.

I thought he'd be good for us but think I've got this one way wrong. He's the one player I'm struggling to see a way back for, getting demoted behind Osula for any minutes is very telling

I wonder where we’d be with him if it wasn’t for that injury?

I do feel that there’s a lack of effort and application when he did get game time, look how much more fluid we look with Gordon there. I don’t know if the Wissa injury was/is worse than they let on, but the output isn’t there with him. Maybe he just wants to poach and not do the hard yards which doesn’t work here.

Most likely to leave in the summer for me.

Think he's just not fit and Eddie won't play you if you can't run. Hopefully he'll get there and play a part in the run in...

Copium for sure lol

Not sure:

Howe says Yoane Wissa, who was an unused sub against Barcelona, is injury free, ahead of Saturday's trip to Chelsea in the Premier League, which is live on Sky Sports.

"Yoane is fit," said Howe. "Fitter, probably, than at any stage in his time with us. He's training with the group whenever we train and no injury concerns at all.

"The challenge for Yoane is, when introduced and on the pitch, he's got to perform."

I know, this is bad. I thought that guy would be a great addition. Not so much.

Strange how the most league proven of the summer signings has had the biggest struggle.

Gordon and Osula have hit a level where it doesn't look like Wissa will get the game time needed to get back to form and integrated with how we play.

There was a window of opportunity for him earlier in the season, but he got injured and missed it.

League-proven Elanga, bazillions of assists last year, has also struggled, but has looked much better recently.

Wonder if he's finally got a big contract after years of being on comparatively low wages and thought 'Right, I'm sorted now, time to put my feet up'.  Going into the back end of his career and now pretty much set for life it'd be easy for the drive and motivation to drop a bit.

See it with New York Yankees players all the time, they are great players and then they come in and just play horribly in New York. A few years later they're back in the Midwest somewhere crushing it again. Basically they just can't hack it in New York.

I could see Newcastle being a similar increase in pressure and scrutiny compared to Brentford.

Likely will end up looking like a proper mug, but I'm gonna say that this lil porkpie will come good.

Once he's fit (match fit) and had a run of games he'll be aight. Now when I say come good, do I mean 55m squid good? Probably not.

The striker market is a joke and we did what we had to do at the time, even if in desparation. I don't see us eating a loss so I'll remain somewhat optimistic.
