I said it on Saturday but because I don't like chicken nuggets and shit beer in plastic cups I watched him during the half time drills and the other players wouldn't even look at him.

Body language between the group and him was awful.

If they were sending a message it would be more effective if they didn't play shit themselves.

 never change, bobby

I wasn't at the game Saturday but funny enough I heard the same sentiment from two different matchgoers about the quality of the warm-up and disinterest shown by Wissa.

Journalist Pete O'Rourke reporting -

Newcastle are looking at striker options ready for the summer transfer window.

It is likely when the club brings in a striker, then they will listen to offers of over £15m for 29yo striker Yoane Wissa.

The Magpies have already accepted that they are set to make a “big loss” on the DR Congo international, with sources indicating that they don’t expect to come close to recouping the £55m they paid to sign him last year.

Turns out panic buys are more expensive than even the most skeptical of us predicted

It doesn't exactly make it better, but it wasn't a panic buy like. Panic buys aren't players you were after for the entire summer. Of the two Woltemade is much more fitting of a panic buy.

£15m

Can only presume we've budgeted for Osula's price going up to offset some of that

If wissa went unless Gordon goes and his replacement can play up top too it would likely means osula stays though.

Can't see 15m being real loaning him for 3 seasons would surely get you more over the remaining 3 years of his contract.

I see what your saying but the fact we paid 55m for this lad is pretty much the definition of panic.

I'd say it's the definition of an overspend on a player we already knew we wanted. Panic buy to me has to be a sort of 'quick we need someone!' scenario.

Yeah, Wissa was overspend as we'd been after him most of the summer (many saw him as the Wilson replacement), but we should have walked away long before it got anywhere near £55m!

Even the late pursuit of Strand-Larsson, I think was more an attempt to force Brentford's hand. Would have been interesting if we'd followed through on JSL if Wolves had accepted any of our offers.

Woltemade though, yeah, screamed of 'panic' buy so late in the window, and we hadn't even been linked with him (I don't think) until it broke.

Nah it was panic. £55m for Wissa is desperate desperate stuff.

Absolute scenes when Brentford sign Wissa for £15m, scores 18 goals for them next season including the goal that takes them to the Europa League final.

I would say it's a panic buy tbh. We were interested in him for a good while, but it was out of panic that we actually agreed to pay silly money for him.

It’s crazy to we would’ve been better off just going with Osula and keeping our powder dry.
