He's not a bad player I actually really like him. I wouldn't ever pay much for him though because as I outlined i need assets to trade with, I need players who have high ceilings and can improve. Our way of managing psr was austerity and by Eddie's amazing work we somehow came out the other side without too much damage but that's not a trick which can be repeated.

LOL Wissa is worth more than 30-35m. 2 years left on his contract and one of the top scorers in EPL last season. Yes he will be 29 on Wednesday but I don't think it is unrealistic that he could give us 4-5 good years. Plenty of players play at a top level well into their mid-30s. And at the end of the day, needs must and I think we got a very good Wilson's replacement

Exactly. Isak was only here for 3 years, and look what we achieved in that time.

He scored just as many as isak last season and he didn't take penalties isak did. 

So to get him for under half the price of isak is a great deal.

Don’t particularly want to get drawn into a regulation chat but if we sell to Saudi doesn’t it mean we can’t use any of that money to go towards our books for Uefa's financial regulations? So it could fuck our European financial situation? Also, if we buy for £55m and sell for £30m two years later, what is the book loss / profit from our own PSR regulations?

It's nothing to do with being financial statements champions, it's because an overpay for Wissa now weakens our ability to compete for top players in future, whilst also increasing the likelihood that we have to sell a prize asset in future.

 

Of course, in the short term, not getting a striker now could be disastrous for the season ahead.  

 

I have no issue with this deal if we are able to flog Wissa to Saudi for 2-3 years at a price that makes the net PSR hit palatable, but PIF do not seem to want to go down this route so this could be a highly expensive deal.
