I doubt the sell on clause will matter. I suspect this is his last big career move

Yep. It is a short term deal made to keep us strong for the next few years. The profit we've made on Isak will cover it, and hopefully Woltemade will turn out to be the next Isak, and there's good reason to think he might.

55m looks expensive but in the circumstances the cost of not signing him would likely have been much higher.

It's pretty much Woltemade and Wissa for Isak, give or take a few mill and that might not be a bad deal, given Isak was a little injury prone and only has about 50-60 good minutes in him on a given day. His 2nd half stats back that up btw. His level of fitness isn't great

Okay, let me rephrase. Can we get Brentford's people in to negotiate the deals we decide to do please?

Each club negotiates from a different position. They have no CL football and, with all due respect to them, limited ambition, certainly this season.

I don't love how him of Isak behaved but I feel a lot less anger than most towards them and can understand why each player acted as they did.

So setting that aside I'm happier with him than I would have been with Larson as I think he'll compliment the team more. Only issues are his (self enforced) lack of a preseason meaning he's less of a plug and play than we want in our situation and the rumoured 25% sell of fee which means that if the club ever actually decides to play the Saudi card it'll be harder to turn a PSR profit on him.

Fair play to Brentford for squeezing the pips on this one.

Depends on the agreement. I doubt Brentford have negotiated a clause which is worthless to them given they had the leverage.

Yes it depends on the agreement but I find it highly unlikely that a sell on clause features in a sale of a 28/29 year old at a premium deadline day rate.

The only thing Newcastle could possibly agree to is something like a 25 percent clause in relation to any profit crystallised with respect to his PSR book value but this seems very far fetched.

Not a chance Newcastle agree to a flat 25 percent sell on clause on any future gross transfer fee received.

People will moan about the fee for Wissa because they just love a good moan. But if he's banging goals in for us this season in the CL all that will soon be forgotten.

I'm OK with this. Didn't want to sell Isak to Liverpool, and especially not on the cheap. On the plus side, if the reports are to be believed it seems we've forced Isak to forego bonuses which is what I've been suggesting we insist on for him to be allowed to go.

I think we've undersold Isak slightly and overpaid on Wissa, but when I woke up at 07:30 to hear Isak was off it was paramount that we got someone in today and, despite reservations on how he's gone about forcing the move, Wissa was the one I wanted. As others have said we've effectively swapped Isak and Wilson for Woltemade and Wissa, both younger than the players they are replacing (2.5 years and 4.5 years respectively), and with a significantly better injury record - Woltemade has missed two games in two years and Wissa six games in two years.

I completely trust Eddie to get the best out of both of them and am looking forward to moving on and seeing how the team develops over the coming season. Generally I think we're one player light in midfield and would rather have picked up Guehi over Thiaw, but we've done much better on outgoings this window and it I'm fairly happy with it, considering the mess Isak left us in.

Can we get Brentford's people in to do our transfer business please? Fucking hell.

They've lost their best 2 players so I'd rather not thanks. Unless you're only bothered about winning the ££ transfer window of course but I prefer the actual game itself.

Do you think Brentford fans are happy with their business?

It'll surely be sell-on profit over the price paid, similar to Isak's clause no?

Sell on profit at 55m£ for a 29 year old? Unless he becomes Messi at Newcastle, only pure sell on makes sense.

I rephrased what I meant. I meant more the negotiating of the transfers that they do really, they've squeezed everything out of us and Man United.
