If a manager does well, praise them. And if he doesn't, they should be criticised. It's really that simple. Instead of the mental gymnastics some fans perform to defend underperforming managers time and time again.

It's really not that simple. A large portion of your fanbase wanted Howe out last season after a poor run, and he ended up winning you a trophy and getting into the Champions League.

There's a much bigger picture than just short term results.

Newcastle got neutered by PSR. The traditional big clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and United played a blinder when it got introduced. They wanted to ensure that the league doesn't see the rise of another Man City. It helps keep potential threats to the status quo in line.

Not a large portion, but your overall point is right. As Howe himself believes, all you can look after is the input and the output is what it is. If people are just judging results they’re missing a lot.

And it's now starting to feel silly to be moving onto plan H when we've already got Plan A sat sulking in the changing room.

Aye, I think we’re now at the point where we need an Isak backup and make him stay. We certainly can’t let him go unless his replacement is genuinely elite.

Genuine question, but does his inflexibility not worry you (or do you think I'm overreacting here)?

It looks like you'll have an excellent side in transitions, but when sides suss out your new first XI I don't think he showed any capacity last year to switch it up.

I'm not a Newcastle fan.

I gave you a detailed breakdown. You got your ass handed to you, son. You'd be more at home on RedCafe. Maybe they ran you off though.

Horrible taste in footballers too. Bruno "The Rat" Fernandes in the big 2025. Bless him for lashing out at Ndiaye in a pre-season friendly. ;D

A large portion? How have you quantified that?

Large portion? Not true by any sensible definition.

United have been shit under Amorim outside of a few European games against Spanish farmers. They've played well in 1 of their 4 pre-season games this summer too. Bournemouth. They struggled against both Leeds and Everton. Froggy is the ultimate fanboy though. He'll never learn.

There were a lot of posters on here suggesting Howe had taken you as far as he could. A lot. I can remember being shocked at it.

Pointless going for  a player when that daft twitter bloke comes out with his stupid "only wants" catchphrase. I remember after the gutting disappointment of hiring mcclaren, he then decided to focus solely on players who made it clear they didn't want to come here (the French winger lads, can't remember their names). micheal effing owen is another one. They clearly don't want to come to enrich the club or do well.

I am beginning to think that it's a bit weird that everything looks designed to stifle us. First all the anti-Newcastle rules aimed at us (even down to the Eddie/Mad Dog on the touchline rule) and now this thing of if we want a player, some cartel club then just buys them. Literally no-one in the media pushes for "look at Newcastle and what Howe could do for your career", it's all "only wants liverpool/chelsea/man u" etc. It's fucking weird man. Sod tinfoil hats, but it's hard to not see what's happening and extrapolate that the powers in football do not want us disrupting thier little shithouse party.

Ok so what you meant to say was "there was a dozen or so people on N-O wanted Eddie Howe out".

And you're smart enough to know that a lot of people on social media does not equate to a large proportion of the fan base.   Social media fans, and i include myself in this, are utter gobshites and not representative of any group outside of social media gobshites

I get the attraction of Man Utd from a historical prestige POV. And they'll be better next season than last obviously.

But surely Sesko has to be looking at Isak and seeing what Eddie Howe has done with him to unlock his full potential and thinking I want some of that.

Meanwhile Man Utd continually ruin (perhaps too strong a word but still) the careers of most who go there.

He'll back himself to deliver I'm sure and think he's better than those who went before him (part of an elite sportsman's mentality) but that very much remains to be seen.

There weren't many actually calling for him to be sacked.

But sure, after us looking very poor for the first months some became skeptical.
