Tbf this might be where Froggy has a point, as Ashley might have been better at Man Utd than the Glaziers have been, but that's a different conversation.

Aye right.

As if he wouldn’t have took all that commercial income and fucked off with it.

Sports Direct @ Old Trafford.

Again, I think he'll end up at Man United, but why are we taking Ben Jacobs word for it.

There’s been something ‘off’ about this whole deal and him in general imho.

Red flag central.

His Agent is clearly a cunt and he’ll be hawked somewhere else as soon as his arse hits the Man Utd training ground.

Can’t help but feel we’ve probably swerved one here.

Actually I agree that the glazers are awful owners the dividends and saddling the club with mountains of debt.

What's hard for me as a Newcastle fan who doesn't know alot about all the fine details is Manchester has been successful in spite of them spent massive amounts inspite of them had relative success inspite of them.

Where could have they been with more engaged owners who put a little money in too who knows.

Newcastle have seen relegations, joe kinnear appointments the lack of investment unless it was a sports direct one and now massively fallen behind on clubs we weren't that far away from financially when he took us over. It was a disaster ownership change with no upside unless fans from other clubs believe the yarn of well Ashley ran you financially well allowing when  new owners to come in and spend heavily at first.

Totally.

the fact Arsenal , Chelsea & Liverpool have all needed a striker this summer and haven’t bitten at this lad even though he’s been actively available is also a red flag imo.

we’ll be right where we are with Isak in 2 years if he’s any good.

Not for us.

I don't know, pal. You're the one who spends your online time posting in the forum of a team you don't support.

Completely agree. Feels like one that would angling for a move again in a year or two.

Never felt we were in for him. Think our name was used to boost engagement.

Hopefully he doesn't turn into a world beater at Man U. Think he's more of a Hoijlund than an Isak.

Literally relegated twice due to neglect and some whoppers don't understand how bad he was [emoji38]

I'd get new mates frogster, you might think it's comforting knocking about with people who wank your opinions off but they're not good for you.

All the non-NUFC fans I know didn't have a clue about Mike Ashley and what he was doing. Especially the ones that supported Man U while living in London (ie they didn't really follow football closely). Other fans just don't follow ownership issues etc closely enough.

Look at the amount of times we'll say something patronising about another club and how they should be happy to survive in the PL, be careful what they wish for and all that shite. Fans should really avoid those opinions on clubs that they don't support.

But Newcastle fans follow Man United's ownership perfectly? Can't you all see how hypocritical this is?

They're not my friends. They're people in work that I talk to about football sometimes. The whole thing started because of the Isak situation.

Agreed. I think for closure we should ask ChatGPT, as everyone on this board loves AI.

Conclusion: Mike Ashley was the lesser of two evils

While both Ashley and the Glazers were deeply unpopular, the Glazers caused more long-term harm to their club’s financial and cultural foundations, despite having vastly more resources. Ashley, for all his faults — and there were many — kept Newcastle afloat without saddling them with debt and eventually left.

The Glazers, by contrast, extracted wealth, neglected the club’s infrastructure, and have refused to let go despite fan fury. Their ownership has created a toxic environment that persists nearly 20 years later.

📉 In terms of damage done relative to potential, the Glazers are worse.
