Sunderland's keeper is probably some no mark shite cunt but he claimed absolutely everything. I don't think Ramsdale was bad like, but it's depressing watching the other teams keeper just run off his line and take the ball from a crowd of players and our keeper needs to be able to do it

He was basically on the 18 yard line for one of them, virtually unchallenged apart from one of Woltemade's trademark 5ft7 jumps for the ball.

I think their 'keeper is actually really good, tbh. Has done pretty much everything well this season.

Came out and claimed one cross / corner from his line all the way to the very edge of his area. Good thing it happened after they’d scored as I imagine Ramsdale would have needed a lie down after seeing it

I think their keeper comes and collects the original throw in before the goal - Thiaw heads it away no more than 3 yards away from the goal, sorry but that's got to be your keeper's ball. The same goes for the Ballard header, he connects with it inside the six yard box, it's an easy claim if the goalkeeper comes out decisively.

Absolute madness that people find the energy to slag Ramsdale off today. Had little to do but was competent in whatever he did do. Bloke is beat before he starts for some reason.

He didn't play badly, but if you're someone who wants your 'keeper to be commanding on crosses, he's never going to be the answer.

Just looked at stats for keepers in top 5 leagues who stop crosses, surprised Pope was high in the list but someone who is in top 10 and also handy with his feet is Elia Caprile.

Only 24 years old but wanted by both Milan sides. I cant ever remember seeing him play maybe @Curva Sud Milano can enlighten us on him.

I think the backroom are looking hard for a GK either in January or in the summer.

I do think the priorities in the next 2 windows is creative midfielder, 2 full backs, a young CB and a third FW

There's a lot of talk about him in Italy  but in my opinion he's just a decent goalkeeper and nothing more. An excellent goalkeeper is Svilar of AS Roma.

Imo it's pretty clear to see that whatever benefit we get from him being better than Pope on the ball just isn't anywhere near worth it. And I don't think that was ever really a big shout to make.

Our centre-backs also take up a much deeper starting position with Ramsdale in the team (as his starting position is deeper than Pope's), which is killing us.

Quite a few were confidently saying they would play higher with Ramsdale in the team.  Which I never understood, considering how deep he plays compared to Pope.

I don't think he did anything wrong yesterday and not pinning the defeat on him or anything.  However I do agree with a few others saying he should have come for the long throw before the OG.  That seemed to be the general consensus in the pub at the time, too.

Can't really legislate for Woltemade forgetting which way he was shooting, mind

Agreed. This was needed though.

We needed Ramsdale to get a run of games and prove that he's inferior to a section of the fans. If you've watched Ramsdale and looked at the data, it was obvious and as you say - not a hot take. But some needed to see it play out.

When Pope gets back in the team just support him. Hopefully next summer we upgrade.

Conceding possesion from long kicks does add pressure to a team for sure. But you know what causes more pressure? Having to do more defending or concede shots on goal because your goalie can't command his box.

Our centre backs have taken deep starting positions all season. I assumed it was because of the fullbacks being out, now we're wondering if it's because Pope is out. In reality, we're just setting up way too negatively in a lot of games and struggling to get up the pitch in a sustained way.

Thought that was 50/50 tbh, he would have had to come through his own players to claim that, and given his clash with Burn led to him punching weakly for the Spurs equaliser a week ago, I'm not sure it was that clear cut. Thought he did ok yesterday, although I agree he doesn't inspire confidence on the high crosses generally.
