100 per cent. He may not be any good with his feet but he’s an amazing goalkeeper and super underrated imo.

I would agree with that before this season, but he's been flapping at crosses as well recently. I don't know if that's because we have new instructions to punch instead of claim because of the tactics of crowding the keeper but he's not looked as assured as previously.

It's hardly like we've been infallible from crosses before Ramsdale's few games. There's been at least 2 goals that Pope was at fault for from them.

Yep, that's what I was getting at.

I don't see results being any better or worse with either. Would sooner try to evolve our play (which happened in Dubravka's spell this time last year) by going with Ramsdale this season, else another 6 months of Pope we're back to square one in the summer. Even if we don't fancy Ramsdale as the long term solution, he'll help us change the way we approach games and will be an easier transition with a new number 1 next year.

At least two goals? Hasn't he played like 12 games? So that's roughly one cross every six games. For his shot stopping ability as apose to Ramsdale's I'll personally take that.

That's from crosses alone. We're not even talking about Marseille or Celtic (I know it was pre-season but it got laughed off at the time), was more like a preview.

To play devil’s advocate. The Brentford one is more on Botman. Surprised he got off so lightly. Pope is about to punch it and he basically ducks down and flicks it into the 6 yard box.

The Arsenal one was a mad 2 minutes from him and he was too aggressive trying to plough through their constant blocks and fouls.

Should still do better for both. But I would prefer him being aggressive. As opposed to always being rooted to the spot.

It wasn’t those two I had such an issue with. West Ham actually annoyed me more. As it felt like two wrong decisions rolled into one. The Marseille one was just pure madness.

Anyway, Pope trained yesterday. So we might be back to complaining about how shit his kicking is sooner than we thought

Hopefully tomorrow, he’s so much better than Ramsdale and needs to start. We obviously need a new keeper as soon as possible mind.

The biggest game of his career

You sure? He was man of the match a couple of years ago in the North London derby. Assuming he must have played in many bigger matches. I mean when Arsenal bought him he was, I think, the record spend on a keeper and he played about 80 games for them.
