Absolutely glued to his line.

So many times where we have got used to Pope sweeping and then realise Ramsdale hasn't come.

Botman obviously didn't cover himself in glory but I'll forgive him given it was 120mins into his return and he's slow as fuck anyways.

Credit and redemption with the pens but shouldn't play another game if Pope is fit.

Yup, there were 3-4 occasions where I was expecting him to sweep like Pope and he just never showed up. Messed up a couple passes with his feet and I have no confidence in his actual keeping ability either, got lucky Evanilson was offside for that one spilled save. Thanks for the penalty win but I wouldn't mind it if I didn't see him play for us ever again.

He'd already had to come out and make a few blocks due to our defenders being outpaced or bullied, so I can see why he made the decision. Botman just has to do so much better there.

That’s how you mitigate slow defenders though.   That’s how we finished 4th and 5th playing a high aggressive line with Schar & Burn/Botman. If you knock it in behind the pass needed to be perfect otherwise Pope would jank it into the stands 99 times out of 100.

He's generally rubbish.  Very timid and gives his defenders no confidence.

Fair play on penalties but that is part of his job.

Not trying to pick a fight so don't take it that way but you say this alot "It's his job". Harvey scores a couple, we should say "No big deal, fair play but it's his job?"

Technically  true I guess. Do not praise players, just say he did his job.

Ramsdale did good. Nowhere near at fault for the 3rd unless he called for it but we all know that isn't true. Good pens. Be fine as cup keeper til later stages.

He's certainly not the answer to our problems, made a couple of important saves but also a couple of unforced errors and can be a little jittery at times, his distribution wasn't as good as usual either but all is forgiven after his penalty heroics, won us the game in the end and can only be happy about that. Don't love him, don't hate him.

Handy quality for what's clearly just our Cup keeper now. Sell Pope, go big on the number 1, see if he'll be happy as number 2.

I don’t hate this idea. I’m not sold on either of them going forward but  Ramsdale at 27 wouldn’t be the worst backup if we could get a really top level goalkeeper.

Again. On what planet should we be paying the rumoured £20-25m for a backup goalkeeper, who isn’t very good? £15m is too much on what I’ve seen.

Spend what, £50m plus on two GK’s this season? That’s mental and not a good use of funds.

Pope can stay as backup if he is happy to and a new number one should be signed.

I wouldn't say he was at fault but a good keeper spreads himself well and blocks it. He seems to shrink in those situations. He's conceded a few similar type goals.

Personal opinion is we’re going to need to I’d imagine. Although unless we sell someone I don’t think it’s a good use of funds now you mention it.

Ideally both need to be replaced and unless Pope is happy to be a no2 and sign a deal deal on that basis it puts us in a dodgy position with contract lengths and age.

Botman should clear it before any of that happens. It’s mainly on him. But Ramsey is glued to his line as per usual.
