£80 million is more than his worth, but from what I can see, that's too much for Sesko as well. I think it's just Chelsea's initial bargaining position. The main difficulty may be persuading Jackson to join, and leave London and his 8 year contract.

I think the main problem with Jackson lies between his ears. The ability is there, but he seems to lack composure. That can be worked on, but the supporters will need to cut him some slack in the early stages. If we get on his back the minute he misses a chance, it's unlikely to work out.

£80m for Jackson would be absolutely fucking obscene, and probably enough to remove 'cunt' from Mitchell's thread title.

The good news for us is that no club will stump up that amount for him. They'll have to lower expectations or keep a disgruntled player on their bench

It's a signing that makes a lot of sense tbh. Coming around to it.

Fits our system.

Premier League provem(sort of).

Has lots of potential Eddie can improve upon.

Not many other strikers left out there.

Chelsea don't need him.

Just need to come to an agreement on the fee, which i'm sure would be possible.

It’s a decent signing in isolation, the problem would be the issue of replacing Isak with someone much worse.

I know there will be a step down whoever we sign, but at least a name like Sesko would’ve made it look more like a sideways move.

I'm definitely not adverse to the signing but Chelsea won't do us any favours. On the one hand they'll be thinking they're not strengthening us but on the other, they'll also know there's potential for Eddie to turn him into the player he should be.

They sold Hall to us for a reasonable fee after we finished 4th, dont their owner have a good relationship with the Saudis?

Would genuinely rather sign Wissa and DCL than giving Chelsea anywhere close to what they want for Jackson. I don’t really dislike Jackson but he’s a work in progress and like others have mentioned anything north of £40m-ish and we’ve been had.

[emoji38] Glad I'm not the only one thinks of that Outkast song every time I hear his name mentioned

Could definitely see a loan on the cards based on all of the things that are standing in the way of a permanent deal.

Fee

Wages

Contract length

Him not wanting to leave Chelsea

Him not being a sure thing

Keeping our powder dry for having a DoF in place

In hindsight it was a reasonable fee, £28m rising to £35m was very high for what he was at the time.

other than that though, we've got a decent chance of getting him in

It's in Chelsea's interest to sell though, and they're unlikely to get a higher fee than now if hold onto Jackson beyond the summer.

I don’t think there’s any chance that any club will pay 80m for Jackson, Isak sale or no.

I could see him either going to Saudi late in window as PIF help out Clearlake again, or he joins an Italian club on loan with option to buy for £60m. Because he either scores out there and the Italian club buys, or there's a market to sell him in England after goals elsewhere.

Chelsea can then get better book value with a year down the line.
