I don't think it's out of the question we sign Jackson and Wissa and let Isak go if we get close to £150m. I know the owners have said he's not leaving, but I get the feeling Eddie is done with him.

I think Wissa is the more accomplished striker right now, but Jackson is younger so might still come good.

as I’ve said before, I change my mind like the wind on this but this is the most likely scenario imo.

The thought of Gordon or Osula playing for us upfront, even for a month during AFCON is giving me chills. We’re already going to suffer for at least the first three matches of the coming season unless a miracle happens, which I doubt it will.

If we manage to get Jackson on a loan to buy that covers us should Isak stay. If he goes we can also bring another striker in come January. Osula isn't there yet, could be Osula out on loan or just go with 4 strikers. Far from unheard of.

It’s surely one or the other?

Having two strikers that will both be gone for the AFCON would be really stupid.

Didn't really consider that, but you are right. Along with Samu Aghehowa those were my two most likely replacements to fit alongside Wissa which would allow us to get rid of Isak if Liverpool stumped up the asking price. Not surprising really that we refuse to let Isak go then, we've run out of even 5th option strikers.

Can't say we didn't try. But Liverpool themselves (by signing Ekitike) and Man U have blocked the Isak transfer this summer

We might still end up with Jackson if Liverpool go for Wissa and reckon on leaving Isak until next season.

@George Bailey I know you’ll have been itching to hear back.

Struggled to get involved for long periods of the match, quite isolated up front and the service was poor. Did bag a first half hat-trick, though.

6/10. Excellent.

Thanks. Lad had a lot of promise and seems a waste in Turkish league..

We wont be getting anyone of the calibre of Isak though.

I imagine there's levels to it though. The fact people on here said they'd be happy with Jackson but only as a Wilson replacement speaks volumes I think.

The first choice replacement would have to be of much higher quality I would imagine.

I’m probably more onboard with signing Jackson than anyone else tbh, I think his pace, pressing, and link up play would suit our style perfectly. He needs some refining in other areas of course, but so do most players we sign.

Of all the post-Ekitike striker links, I was firmly in the Jackson camp. At the right price of course.

We're not going to replace Isak in terms of like for like ability so get the one who suits our style of play best and who leaves us with enough change to spend on one or two more bits of quality.

We don't necessarily need to buy a purple, buy a blue and Eddie will make him a purple.
