Chelsea will set Jackson’s price based on what Isak is potentially sold for? Strangely worded tweet

Well if Isak goes for £150m then everyone will see that money, lick their lips and hike their prices accordingly. I think that’s all he means really.

So what if Isak doesn't get sold? Jackson has no value?

If we sell Isak for -30, then Chelsea will sell us Jackson for -70? Might be worth thinking about since Chelsea are probably more of a direct rival.

I promise you that Chelsea's very smart and active deal makers didn't tell him any of that absolute nonsense. They know the prices of similar aged strikers who have been signed around Europe and know what their player is worth.

is there any chance you’d sell Watkins, Brummie?

He’d be my first choice for a centre forward but I’ve no idea if he’d be available or not?

Not a prayer.

Emery loves him, he's our only striker, and he's really only going to leave for the likes of Arsenal. There's no pressure PSR wise to sell him or that would have happened already.

TBH he's not far off 30 now, I wouldn't be hugely bothered if someone offered us insane money for him at this point, but there are certain players Emery is never going to sell unless it's last option.

Watkins, Morgan Rogers, Pau Torres, for example.

What was the whole thing with Watkins being dropped for Rashford at times last season in some pretty key games?

Seen some reports that it was because they had clashed. I presume that was not valid then?

Nah, he just can't play every game, not at the intensity he applies, and we played so many games last season.

Ah ok, I thought there was an issue there with him and Emery. Clearly not.

Thanks. Please feel free to keep him at Villa for at least another year.

Looking like more and more of an attractive option every day

It seems that our desperation to sign a striker and Chelsea’s desperation to sell this guy would converge on a reasonable price at some point before the window closes.

I never understood why he was seen as a bad option tbh. People were twerking over Ekitike and Sesko, but I bet if Jackson signed for us he'd score more than both of them this season. There's a reason several clubs are supposedly interested - he's a good young player with a lot of good attributes. He's not as good as Isak but we aren't realistically able to sign anyone who is

Issue is he’s got other suitors and our desperation for a striker exceeds their desperation to sell.

The biggest indicator for me is that Emery wants him at Villa. He had him as a player at Villareal and he must know something we haven't seen yet.

Based on what I've read people are intent on only looking at the ability to finish which is an area Jackson has lacked in apparently.

That's probably where the disconnect lies, unfortunately strikers job goes way beyond sticking the ball in the net.

Because well the ball doesn't just magically end up there, I feel like if he has enough raw attributes then backing the staff to develop the end product is a decent bet to make.

From what I can tell the club is basically forced to make these educated guesses on players rn as I doubt certainties exist with 10 days left.
