They can only afford a loan, we should be able to trump that if we are actually in for him.

Would also mean Villa would have to sell more now or in January as it looks like Chelsea will only loan if its obligation to buy.. unless that obligation to purchase extends passed this PSR year??

Spoke to an old uni housemate of mine who's a Chelsea fan, he really rates his link up and build up play. But his finishing is inconsistent at best and his dribbling ability is non-existent. Does think however that if he gets some decent coaching to polish up those weak spots in his game there's a good striker in there and that he'd fit us more than he does Marescaball.

I'd take him at this point but as long as he's the Wilson replacement as opposed to Isak's.

only a handful of players are as good as Isak, that's why we don't want him to leave for fucks sake  and nobody else is seemingly any good or too expensive.

this should be a lesson to kids out there, fucking train on striking - both feet, and movement. stop trying to be the next wide forward with only 1 workable foot.

Seems a little weird that they'd be going after Jackson for big money given how much of their attack is centered around Watkins. They mostly don't play two strikers and in any case I'd think Jackson is a poor fit for both a two-striker system and for playing on the wing.

Doesn't seem like Jackson would be an every-weekend starter there, which is the whole point of him moving on for Chelsea. If we were interested (it doesn't seem like we're actually interested) he'd probably choose us.

Genuinely couldn't give a fuck about this one.

I dont think hes a bad player, but I dont want us giving money to Chelsea for a flop.

Chelsea flop ? Like Salah and De Bruyne you say ?;)

Shame, think he'd have been an excellent fit for us.

Is Watkins off?

Didn't Villa sign a striker earlier in the window and have PSR issues to point of where they couldn't spend even after selling Ramsey to us.

Surely he'd be available if Villas deal for Jackson was permanent and not a loan?

At the beginning of the transfer window if someone had suggested Jackson as the lead striker they would have been mocked relentlessly and quite rightly so. The fact that we have fucked up the window so far in terms of strikers is no reason to suddenly decide that he's actually good and would help us. Rather have no one than overpriced not very good players.

He'd probably be a shit as an Isak replacement, but if the "Wilson replacements" are costing 50-60m anyway we might as well get this guy for the same price.

But yeah, if folks at the club rated him I think he'd be a Newcastle player already.

Yeah, journalists have mentioned him a lot, but with a caveat that not everyone is sure he'd be a good signing.

Its an easy link too as his agency did the Lloyd Kelly deal so its natural names will have been mentioned and discussed

Prefer Jackson and they keep Watkins

I’d prefer Watkins he’s a better finisher I know he’s 29 but we signed Callum Wilson at 28/29 he’d do a good job for a season or two until we find the future Isak (non cunt version)
