Its likely someone who's worked with Wolves before, therefore they are likely trusted to have direct conversations more than say a buying club, or a players agent, at this stage. So someone will be talking to Wolves and the players agent, that information will be getting relayed to Newcastle through the players agent. The problem with this, is that quite often intermediaries will lie in order to use buying clubs for various reasons. Perhaps the player wants a pay rise, perhaps there is value in bringing another club to the table to start a bidding war. It’s a tough price to justify but he’s still young and has a year in the PL under his belt. It’s inconceivable that we don’t sign a striker before the window shuts and think he looks the safest bet out there. If Andy Howe (or whoever) knows a guy at Wolves and his texting him some numbers is that formal? informal? It's not like there's an official "formal talking room" both sides need to enter into consummate a transfer. But aye, we have 0 strikers, we've already dropped 2 points through it and we're going into a huge game against Liverpool.
