I don't watch Spanish football but do they still play with their CBs pushed up into the opponents half? If so, we'll murder them on the break in the away leg. Can see us scoring a couple plus a set piece with our height. We can do this.

We’ll still have to be in the game by the 2nd leg. They let us shoot our load in the first 20 minutes last time and then proceeded to pass us off the park.

They were also without their best player as well, so admire your positivity but it’ll be a huge ask to beat these over 2 matches.

Deco asked about that: “It is an advantage but only if you approach the first match with seriousness. It is a very tough pitch [when playing Newcastle United at St James’ Park], we won [there in September], but we suffered.”

The likes of Gavi and Andreas Christensen are currently out injured and Deco confirmed that a new injury had impacted Barcelona.

The Barcelona Sporting Director stating that a hamstring injury picked up during training on Thursday is set to see Frenkie de Jong miss both matches against Newcastle United.

Deco saying about the Barcelona star: “It is a muscle strain and he is expected to be out for up to five weeks, he is unlikely to return before the international break.”

De Jong was very good in September like. Not quite as good as Pedri, who was outstanding, but it’s still a bonus for us.

PSG have asked for their League match with Nantes (due to be played between their two Champions League games) to be postponed. Nantes have agreed 😂

We could ask chelsea and they can ask us [emoji38]

Eddie looks like an extra from Mobland there.

Glad it's Barcelona and not Chelsea as Chelsea have as sussed. Hope we can take a narrow lead into the second leg, they'll have to go for it which will leave loads of space for the counter attack.

We have a chance but I wont put any money on it. Great chance to reach the semis at least if we can scrape through.

Having this tie to look forward to should be motivation enough for Wissa to start showing up.

Bit harsh on Bodo, that. I’d consider them equals against Sporting (despite the relative league positions in the CL).

Also to say Barca are only slight favourites against us is kind to us.

Agree with you, would love to see a breakdown of the calculation that lead to the positioning.

By my reckoning if we'd held on in Leverkusen and win we'll have finished 6th and ended up with PSG in the last 16.

If that was the only change in the entire group stage we would have finished 5th in the table, but still in the current Barca/Chelsea 5th/6th position along with Barcelona. It would have been Inter/PSG vs either Monaco/Qarabag with us and Barcelona playing the winners of those respective ties in a 50/50 draw.

Sure I read yesterday that you take the seeded teams place should you beat them. Not 100% mind.

What if 2 seeded teams or 2 non seeded teams play each other in the quarters

Just found out that Liverpool, who also play their last 16 game on Tuesday play their FA cup game on Fri, while we are the late game on Saturday.

Anyone got tickets in our end for this confirmed yet ?

Wondering where in the ground were situated ?

No. Seat selection opens 2pm tomorrow, so we’ll know then. Assuming Barca have sorted out how many tickets they’re giving us….

Going to the home game now. Nervously excited for it already.

I’m sure I’ll change my tone after our next two games. But I think we can get a result at SJP.

The FA Cup games were picked before the CL dates were known.

And in fairness, before the second leg they play 4:30 Sunday, whereas we play on the Saturday.

They are at home, we are away in those 2nd legs.

Yes, and we’re at home in the first leg, and they’re away.

So it’s all pretty much evened out.

Playing at home first means this will be some atmosphere. There's an argument for saying this is our biggest game in years. Would you put it over the Carabou cup final?

Nah. Even if we won, still wouldn't feel anywhere close to realistic that we could win the trophy. Whereas the league cup final was literally 90 mins to end our trophy draught.

This is just a nice glamour fixture in my eyes where very few would expect us to win so we can try and play pressure free.
